Default Ovidrel, IUI, and Bloating

Ladies,

I had my IUI yesterday and today I feel so bloating, crampy and my ovaries are still working. It is way past the time limit for the HCG to work. I triggered on 10/6/09. I have also had the Ovidrel trigger fail before. I am looking for some similiar stories and some comforting words. Any advice?

Hi Erin - HcG (Ovidrel) can actually take 7-10 days to get out of your system, so your still in the window where it can still be affecting you. When they triggered your what was your e2 level. If you had a high e2 or a lot of small follicles your symptoms can be from overstim or mild OHSS. It should be perfectly normal. I had all of those symptoms after IUI.

I just finished my first IFV (well ER on Oct. 1) and the HcG shot on sept 29. I am still on bed rest until next Tuesday but that is from the OHSS. But you can get a mild case of OHSS if you had a lot of follies or if you had a high e2 at trigger. Also if your have mild OHSS and you get a BFP it magnifies your symptoms.

I can tell you my treatment for the OHSS is to stick to a high sodium, lots of fluids, gatorade and tomato juice (I hate it but force myself to drink it anyway). If your just bloated from Ovulation I don't think this is the right diet since you don't want so much sodium!

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!! Oh, and get your BFP!!!

My E2 level was 1,314. I had 4 mature follicles. Is this a high level?

nope, totally normal level. It's probably just O cramps, and HcG is the same as pg hormone so it's going to give you all those symptoms. It is out of your system in about 7-10 days sometimes shorter and sometimes longer, everyone's body metabolizes different, and sometimes people take different doses. You will feel better soon, or hopefully not, if you get a BFP, good luck!
