Default Ovulating on D-chiro-inositol?

I have been taking 1200mg DCI for exactly three weeks now. I am on CD11, I took clomid CD5-CD9 (provera induced period). Today I noticed EWCM for the first time in years literally speaking. Does this mean I am about to ovulate? Is it not too early? I don't think the EWCM is due to clomid since it's only been two days since my last pill. I have also been taking robitussin. Up until now I didn't think the DCI was doing anything except giving me more energy and some breakouts but I just realized I may be ovulating because of it. I would like to hear from anyone on DCI and/or clomid including BFP stories. Good luck!

Hi, Im new to trying DCI, however last cycle I was on Tamoxifen (similar to clomid) and metformin. I made the muffins, but with ground buckwheat groats (far less DCI in groats than ferinetta), and the next day I got my OPK+. Instead of several days of OPK+, I had only one. Also the day before I got ewcm (had been taking EPO) and no sign of OPK (which usually gets darker gradually by the day). Anyhow, I think your gearing up to Ovulate, I'd grab the OPK's and see.

Tamii, thanks for the response. Did you confirm ovulation last cycle? I am temping this cycle too and I haven't ovulated as of today CD12. I am also using opks like you suggested and today I got a line very visible and darker than yesterday but not as dark as the control line so I'm hoping in the next day or two I will get a positive opk. How is your experience with met so far? I would like to try it if I don't get a bfp this cycle. Any weight loss with met?

I was on 2000mg met since dec 2006, except I took less while I was pregnant for 21 weeks. They never once checked my liver or pancrious, and I felt like I needed a break from met. I still weigh what I did when it all started, but I also have been taking fertility meds. Im 40lbs more than I want to be, and I think I should weight like 130, so I have 50lbs to go. I was much lighter when I was pregnant, ended up 170, so I lost 10lbs. Last cycle I did ovulate right after starting DCI, I think I was already gearing up to, plus I was on met and fertility meds, which Im not doing this cycle.

Im clompletely met free. Instead Im taking chromium in the chelated form, for my insulin resistance. Im not having near the problems with my blood sugar that I had on met. I used to get the lows so bad on met. I also had s/e's that Im so happy to report are gone now.

It sounds like your gearing up to O. Make sure to get your DCI for the next few day till you confirm O. I take DCI all month. KUP

I am just joined soulcysters and just yesterday started taking DCI. In the past I have been on Metformin tried all the fertility drugs and all the Dr's told me was good luck I don't know what more to do to help. When I found out about DCI it was almost like angels were singing. I'm really hoping it will work for me and everyone else who decides to try it. If it does work...the 10 year wait will so be worth it! I really hope it works for you guys and PLEASE keep us posted on results. I too was kind of disappointed not knowing what the results were of the earlier women who posted.

Default There is hope!

Tamii- You are not alone. I have read about many cysters who just got tired of met and wanted to try more natural remedies including chromium which I hear is just as effective as met. I hope it works for you. Did you time intercourse close to your ovulation day last month? I’m hoping you o again this cycle.

Joobile- Welcome to SC. I’m fairly new myself both to the site and to PCOS. I was recently diagnosed. We have been TTC for 10 months now so I really admire your courage and perseverance after TTC for 10 years. It should be all worth it at the end of your journey.

I am hopeful about DCI and it’s role in PCOS. Today is CD14 and I think I ovulated on CD12. Luckily DH and I bd on CD 8, 10, and 12 so I hope that is sufficient. I never got a positive opk, they just got darker than the earlier ones but not as dark as the control. I’m charting also and I had a temp rise from 97.0 on CD12 to 97.55 on CD13 and 97.65 today, we’ll see if I get a third high temp tomorrow to confirm o. One thing I’m sure the DCI is doing to stabilize blood sugar and insulin levels, I noticed my appetite has changed and I no longer crave sweets and carbs. I also haven’t had the severe pains I get every ‘cycle’ when a cyst ruptures. Best of all, there are no side effects whatsoever. If I do get a BFP this cycle, I suspect it has more to do with DCI than clomid (just my intuition)

Thanks Joobilee. I had another high temp of 97.50 today and fertility friend confirmed ovulation on CD12 so I'm crossing my fingers too. We'll see what happens

Im also on FF. My homepage is: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/imissnickLot of stuff on there. I am adding stuff back from my old messy homepage.

Yes we BD around O last cycle. Two days before O, chance of conception is 28%, 1 day before 26% and day of O is 5%. DH has about 40 million count, so half as many as what is normal, so we try to BD every other day and I hope to hit either 1 or 2 days before and day of O each time. Sometimes my O is slow, so hitting the day of makes me sure I had a good open window. I also check CX, and try to hit the day its most open, easier said than done though.

I've been using IC's (instead cups) right after BD, and put my legs up with the cup already in.

I have a question. Did DCI move up your O? I usually O later, but think I will start OPK checks on cd 10, this monday.

Hopeful09 and Tamii : Before you started taking DCI did you have a cycle before? If not how long taking DCI did you know you were cycling? I haven't ever had a complete cycle with O that I know of. Except in 9th grade (16 yrs ago) AF did visit by herself no BC help. Anyway I was just wondering how long on DCI before you knew it was making a difference. In the few days I have been taking it I've noticed my sweet and carb cravings have vanished which I feel like I'm in a completely different world but there has been no CM change or temp change. You guys have been taking for much longer than me so how long do you think before it will help with a cycle?

One more question: have you both found Fertility Friend to be helpful?

I have only been taking DCI through food for a few weeks. I was on metformin and had taken tamoxifen (it works like clomid) then was waiting for ovualtion and the only sign I had was ewcm, I went off EPO(evening primrose oil) and started the muffins. The very next day I got my positive OPK. It was only one day too. I think the muffins helped move up my ovulation by allowing my hormones to work correctly. 2 weeks later I got AF. Im now on cd8 and waiting to ovulate. I went off the metformin and took no fertility meds. I did take soy cd2-6, to help ovulation.

As for periods, I had irregular periods from the beginning. I think I was in 6th grade when they started. I was irregular in my 20's, but had 2 babies. After my 2nd baby, I tried depo and AF never came back. I kept on the extra weight I had gained during that pregnancy too. I weigh about 180 now. I had gotten AF twice in a row one year, 2004, but I was on a soy based diet, so I bet the DCI is what did it, I dont know. So in the entire 7 years I've been married, I have only gotten a few AF's without inducing it. I went 15 months and nothing happened on its own. Thats when I started all sorts of new things, diet, virtex, natural suppliments, nothing worked. I tried clomid twice and only 200mg worked twice, the 3rd time nothing.

I finally found a doctor who diagnosed me with PCOS, and I've been learning about it ever since that, that was 2006. He had me on metformin and fertility pills, clomid, tamoxifen and femara. I've been pregnant 3 times since, two ectopic. Apparently my body ovulates on provera, which I think had a hand in my 1st ectopic, and my 2nd ectopic was just because I still had a half tube in there and it caught the baby.

The other pregnancy is a long story, but I got an infection called chorioamnionitis (not sure if I spelled that right), and my son was too premature to be with us. He was born in Jan 2008, then I had my 2nd ectopic in April 2008.

Personally I love FF. The charting is free, but I also love the groups.

Tamii- I have heard of the instead cups and will like to try them out too. I was not ovulating before DCI. I was having monthly periods but those were due to estrogen withdrawal. I found out while charting on fertility friend that I was anovulatory which was confirmed by blood tests. I don't know when I ovulated last but I know I was ovulatory a couple of years back even when my periods were irregular (had two elected abortions when I was younger and foolish). So I think DCI may have made me ovulate after a long period of being anovulatory.

Joobilee- I had cycles before DCI but they were not ovulatory, they were estrogen withdrawal bleedings monthly. My last cycle before DCI was dec 31, 2008 and my RE put me provera for 10 days which I started March 10. I started the DCI around the same time. AF came March 27 and I started the clomid March 31. I noticed about a week after DCI that I had more energy and some breakouts. According to the studies, it took up to 4-6 weeks for the women to ovulate and see other changes. I myself only started noticing the decreased appetite and sugar cravings a couple of days ago and I have been on it for almost 4 weeks now. I still feel my ovulation on CD12 was due more to DCI than clomid and that was approximately 3 weeks after starting DCI. It can also take up to 2 months on it to see a difference. It is definitely worth trying for at least 2 months. I am about to order my second month's supply. Fertility friend made me discover I was anovulatory hence my diagnosis through charting and has also helped me confirm ovulation on CD12 this cycle so I think it is a very helpful site. Good luck!

Hopefull, I'd be interested to see your chart. I had heard that AF with no O was possible, but never knew why. I thought that some might get cysts instead and then some progesterone, then withdrawl bleeding. I never thought about estrogen withdrawl and how that worked, so very interesting. I go under Tamii on FF, at the moment. Sometimes I change it to Tami40 or Tami?dpo or other variations. Im seeing a little more acne, and have been on DCI for 3 weeks now. Im also so happy to not have s/e of metformin.

Are you all getting enough calcium, d3, b vitamins, and c vitamins? They are all supposed to help pcosers. I've been reading up on which ones to combine with which for better absorbtion. I would really like to do the right thing for my health.
