I have thin PCOS, I am currently taking clomid 100mg (CD5-9) metformin 1700mg, prenatals, & preseed (this cycle, 1st time). I have regulated cycles & blood tests state I have ovulated very well the past few months? My info is in my signature. Anyone else in this situation? PS, husbands tests came back clear. This issues are with me, and apparently they have been resolved. My issues were long cycles, no ovulation, & a LH level that was 4x higher than it should be. Because of the clomid & cm I will use preseed for the 1st time this month.

Hi Fentonc
I am new to this board, but was reading "still and unseen" a few times here . I am a German girl so please do not mind if my English sounds strange.
I was in a similar situation, got Clomid to produce an O. But since Clomid had a bad effect on mucous this decreases chances of getting pregnant even if you got a good O. Maybe this is your issue as well?
Now I am on Met and Puregon (which is Follistim, I guess) and my mucous is really good and hopefully my folli is as well.
In Europe we cysters try to improve our chances with tea. Raspberry leaves, rosemary, salvia, mugwort and elder blossoms for days before O and alchimilla, yarrow and nettle for the days after. This is also meant to enhance your chances. At least it won't hurt.
Good luck!

Hi German Girl, I know the benefits of Red Raspberry Leaves ( I actually *try* to drink a cup a day throughout my cycle) but as for the others, could you explain the specific benefits of them? Thanks!

Hi Samie,
okay, I will try to explain the benefits. Hope my vocabulary is good enough.
Those herbs contain so called phyto-hormones or other beneficial substances. Two or three cups of tea a day are enough. Drinking a lot of tea or water is good anyway.
The tea for the first 2weeks comprises: raspberry leaves and salvia contain something like estrogen and therefore contribute to development of good mucous and lining. Elder blossoms support the fsh, thus support growing of the folli. Rosemary affects the gonadals to produce more body-own hormones. Mugwort helps the liver to purify your body.
As for the days after o take: alchimilla maintains progesterone and loosens uterus, yarrow contains a phyto-hormone similar to gestagen and nettle supports purification again. Don't take alchimilla when you are pregnant. Within the 2ww it is fine but later it could cause miscarrige. Btw. alchimilla is also good to prevent PMS.
For a better taste you might add what you like - mint or rose hips.
Somehow it feels like the middle age where old herb women treat women issues... but old healing knowledge is not that bad. Why should it. As for a simple cold noone would mind to take mint or thyme tea or salvia against sore throat!
Hope that helps

Reason: typos
No, you speak/write very well in english, I understood everything.
I did NOT know that about Elder blossoms. I want to make sure we are talking about the same herb. We have something here we use (or at least I do ) for colds, illnesses, etc. called Elderberry, we normally use it in either dried and then pill form or tincture form. Is this the same herb?
The reason I ask, is we also have an herb called Red Clover Blossoms, that is supposed to be very beneficial during the first two weeks of the cycle.
If its the same as Elderberry, I had no idea about that. Thanks for sharing!
And I am completely there with you on the more natural route. Thanks again!

hm,
German it is "Holunder" see German wikipedia (sorry I am not allowed to post links yet) or google pictures. From the berrys we produce juice or jam. But for the tea you take the blossoms in spring.
Red clover = "Rotklee" I also know as a herb against menopause discomforts. I guess it contains an estrogen like substance as well.

Ok, yes that's Elderberry! Wow, that's amazing. I'm going to definitely see if I can find blossoms here. Thanks again!

German girl / Samie, is Holunder / Elderberry Sambucus Nigra? Vlierbes in Dutch (maybe you know German girl) I like the sentence: In Europe we cysters try to improve our chances by drinking tea. You formulated it correctly, no worries, I just get this picture in my head of European cysters having a little tea party Apparently I've been missing out though. I didn't know about most of these teas. Can you mix all the ingredients for the first 2 weeks together or do you have to make that many kinds of tea a day? Thanks for sharing this!
P.s. Fentonc, did you O already?
P.p.s. German girl, I have the same issues you do, I'm way more comfortable expressing myself in Dutch than in English but I think of posting on the boards as a good exercise and nobody seems to mind if you put things in a strange way. I like to think they find us eccentric for writing nonsense every now and then

Hi july,
yes I have looked it up. It is sambucus nigra. In the northern parts of Germany people call it "Fliederbeere", quite similar to dutch.
Sorry for blind subsuming all European girls! :-) But I know a lot of cysters that are obsessed about the tea stories. I am a herb which anyway. Maybe I have a limited focus in that regard.
For the tea you may just mix all ingredients in equal parts. And for a better taste add dried fruits.
Of course it is easier to express yourself in your mother tongue. I have been learning Englisch for 18 years now. Recently I join a class on scientific writing. The teacher was assessing my knowledge as "unsystematic" as I had to many teachers who were mother tongue speakers but no real language teachers. hm! To this I am learning Italian at beginners level. Sometimes I mix all three languages that results in very funny sentences...

Yeah, I know all about mixing languages! When I was in high school I learned English, French and German. English isn't much of a problem since English/American films/tv etc are subtitled (I think that makes it much easier for us to learn English than for German speakers, you have synchronized films right? Die Braut die sich nicht Traut/ Runaway Bride) but French and German are languages you really have to learn through school. BUT we would have the same subjects in both French and German at the same time, so when I was in French class and we were discussing the local cuisine I'd often find I didn't know a certain word in French but I did know it in German and vice versa. Pretty hilarious every know and then. I also remember a time I was at a summer holiday with friends and there were a couple of German guys and I wanted to try some lines we learned. So we used to watch this program called 'Hallo aus Berlin' and one time they want to the market and asked people what they liked best, and everybody answered Kaffee und Kuchen and the sorts. So, maybe because we were in a different setting, but I asked this guy: was machst du am liebsten? And the guys sort of started laughing, apparently it was a very sexual thing to ask. Aargh.
I don't mind at all you take word for all European cysters, I'm definitely open to the tea thing, so you're right: I'd love to improve my chances by drinking tea!

yes, you are right,we have all movies, tv series synchronized. There is no need to learn any foreign language in my country as long as you don't need it in job. Actually I do.
But for me it is also because I have friends from 12 different nationalities that live in 16 different contries in the world.
We have some dutch friends and I regonized them to have a more fluent English than most Germans have. Most Germans, as my husband, have a passive English, that means they understand but do not speak it.
Probably the German guys were having you on. It is perfect German to ask someone "Was machst Du am liebsten / Was magst Du am liebsten" if you want to know what the person likes to do or just likes. It has not sexual connotation as long as someone constructs one from the context with full intent.
I guess we have completely hijacked this thread now.
