Hello All,
I am 32 and was diagnosed with PCOS in 1996. I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes as well. I am now going to a very good doctor that is really helping me to become healthy again. She seems to think that at the rate I'm going with my tests and all that I should be stable with my blood sugar within the next 2 months. Pretty much my entire life I have never ovulated because of the PCOS. Me and my husband would love to start a family as soon as possible. My doctor had me start taking Actos plus Met about 2 months ago. I am currently taking 15/850 twice a day for a total of 30/1700 daily. Up until then I had been having maybe 1 period a year on my own. Two days after I started the Actos plus Met I began my period and it lasted 8 days. Then roughly 38 days later I started again and went for 2 1/2 days this time. I was so excited! I had never had 2 in a row like that. I am now waiting to see if I have a 3rd one within a normal time span. My question is this: Has anyone started their periods this quick before on Metformin and if you did, did you start ovulating? I am wondering now if I am? The night before I started this last time I had a really weird and bad pain in my lower right side (possibly around my ovary) that lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. A coworker seems to think I may have ovulated. Does this sound right? I have no idea since I never have. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tell if I am or should I go spend money on a home ovulation kit and test myself with it. If I do buy a kit should I wait awhile and see if I keep having periods every month or is it a waste of time and money? Sorry for all the questions but I finally feel like maybe we have a small (may be teeny) chance at actually conceiving soon. Before now I have felt like I had a 100% chance at not conceiving. Thanks again in advance for any suggestions!!!
Sarah
