Default Ovulation with Clomid, No bfp - Will Injectables help?

I have taken Clomid for 4 or 5 months now. The first 3 or 4 were in a row about a year and a half ago. The last one was Sept. 09 with trigger shot and IUI. With the first clomid cycles, I was not monitored by u/s, but progesterone levels usually indicated that I ovulated or could have ovulated. The IUI cycle, u/s confirmed that I had good follicles growing (one dominant, two on other side, still of significant size, others there but smaller). I used the trigger shot and had the IUI, still bfn.

Here's my main question: Since I appear to ovulate with Clomid, would there be any benefit to move on to injectables? Has anyone had a similar experience? Just trying to figure out what our next step should be.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me!

It's totally up to you whether you try a few more cycles with clomid - it could still happen! I have a friend who did 6 or 7 cycles on clomid, ovulated beautifully on all of them, but wasn't getting pregnant. She also did IUIs with some of those cycles. She decided to move onto injectibles with IUI and got pregnant on her first shot. Clomid can make your uterine lining thin and cause other issues that can make it difficult to conceive, even if you ovulate. So who knows if that's why my friend didn't get pregnant... she was monitored all throughout her cycles and her doc never mentioned anything about her lining but who knows!
HTH!

Clomid has a number of side effects that are somewhat counterproductive. Like the previous poster mentioned, it can thin your lining; for me, I had absolutely 0 cervical mucus - and combined with DH's low but not awful morphology all of my clomid cycles were a dismal failure.

We moved on to injectibles earlier this year. Right away I noticed I had cervical mucus again and we even got a BFP on our second injectible cycle. We did have to cancel one cycle due to cysts, but I think for us injectibles was the right course since it's gotten us closer to our goal than before. It might be something to discuss in your case, since many doctors recommend six cycles on clomid as a maximum.

I've only done 1 cycle of clomid 50mgs and it was a BFN. So, I guess this cycle I'll be finding out the answer to that question too. My RE feels that the injects will probably yeild a much better response than Clomid, and we're doing Follistim+IUI. He was only going to have me do 3 Rounds of Clomid anyway. He said after 3 months, if you're not pregnant it's not likely to make you pregnant. Good Luck!!
