I am new to PCOS. I was just diagnosed with it in July. I am currently not having my own menstrual cycle and not ovulating. I am taking Progesterone pills for the first 10 days of each month to induce a "fake period." Does anyone know what I need to do to get my OWN period/ovulation back? And, how long does it take? I mean, my husband and I want to try for a baby but, at this point, I'm not even ovulating so there's no way I could get pregnant. I'm so overwhlemed with where to go from her!!! Please help!
Hi Kim, one thing I can tell you for sure is you are going to LOVE soulcysters! I joined in May and have learned so much! I came off BCP in November and have had a very irregular cycle since then. My last period started on June 1st.
My advice to you is to spend lots of time searching this forum and reading and asking questions. You might find you want to try herbal remedies before drugs, that is the route I am on at the moment. I started Vitex / agnus castus / chasteberry (same herb, 3 names!!) on 10th August, and I have already had some symptoms to suggest it is helping my body do something, even though it is thought to take upto 3 months to take effect.

Hi,
I am fairly new as well and I have no menstrual cycle or ovulation either... it is very overwhelming!! I don't really know where to go from here either. I have the 'fake' period from progesterone as well... but I guess at least we are shedding our linings... but I want the real deal

Two things that can't hurt are getting on a regular program of healthy diet and increased physical activity (if you aren't already.)
Many members report a return of ovulation with improved lifestyle. I went for years without ovulating and after a year of VERY strict diet and exercise, I developed ovulatory, 28-day cycles.
Welcome to the cysterhood!

Hi and welcome to Soulcysters.
As Kat has already said, a change in lifestyle can help regulate cycles. In my case when I was diagnosed I was prescribed Metformin and aswell as losing weight I've had pretty much regular cycles since then. I know medication might not sound like the ideal answer, but in some cases it DOES help.
This is a great site, and I hope you find the answers to your questions.
Hugs
