Default Ovulation and Provera

Monday I called my GYN because I still hadn't had AF (last one was April 29). He phoned in a prescription for Provera.

Well, Thursday (CD 55!) I am almost 100% certain that I ovulated for the first time since last October!

Should I go ahead and start the Provera (I haven't yet) or just wait for two weeks and see if I get AF on my own?

Note: My last labs showed almost no progesterone in my system, but that would be caused by not ovulating. I'm assuming since I more than likely DID ovulate, then my body will produce progesterone on it's own. But it shouldn't hurt it to add some, should it?

I've never taken Provera before...

Well - no one has replied to me

I didn't start taking it. I figure I'm going to have to wait at least two weeks either way, so I'll just see if I start on my own.

What is it that makes you think you ovulated? Temps, signs...?

Personally... I think i would hold off on the Provera. It won't hurt if you did O, I think it wouldn't hurt even if you were pregnant - but I'd really want to know for my own curiosity if I did really O. At worst you won't have O'ed, AF won't show, and you'll just delay your period a little while longer. A couple more weeks won't make a big difference... you're still within the periods every 3 months guideline.

Up until Oct., I ovulated every month. I know when because I get prolific amounts of cervical mucus with low cramping on one side for a couple of hours. Then the next day - the cervical mucus completely dries up until AF. Knowing this about my cycle (and not having many other signs of PCOS at that time), I was able to concieve DD very easily - had sex one time the first month we were TTC on the day that I knew I was Oing.

I knew I stopped ovulating because I had the same amount of CM all month long and no cramp. After having the GYN tell me over and over that there is no way a woman can know she ovulated without a doctor checking (WRONG), he confirmed that I have NOT been ovulating. HUH. Guess I know my body better than he does. LOL

On Thursday, I had tons of CM and the cramping. Then by Friday, the CM dried up and hasn't come back. So I am absolutely positive now that I O'ed.

ive just been going back through some older posts and found this one, im dying to know did your AF come on its own?

back in feb i was sure that i o'd for the first time in months! like so sure, i had egg white cervical mucus (i even did the test where u drop it in water and if it makes a ball then it is EWCM) and i dont usually ever get that, and i got a mini microscope to see if i was ferning, and i did really strong for a couple of days, and i never got results that strong again (ive had it for six months) i am so sure that i ovulated, yet i did not get my AF until three days ago (six months after i o'd) i know that if u o u should get a period, but im so sure that i did. i hope yours came on its own. i know how great it feels to know ur body is actually doing that stuff on its own. i recently got my first period in like nine months, and im over the moon. i never thought i could be so happy to be bleeding and having blood stained sheets (sorry TMI lol) but it was the most awesome thing in the whole world!!!

No I waited until 18 days after when I thought I Oed and started the Provera. I am currently on CD 27 and never Oed this cycle.
