Default Ovulation symptoms???

Okay, a brief history...in Sept., I met with an RE for the first time. I'm not ttc, just wanted a doc who understood how to treat pcos, besides bcp (I've been kinda worried about any long-term effects from being on bcp pills since high school, not to mention tired of weight gain, bloated feeling, headaches and hot flashes/mood swings).

We (doc and me) decided to try Actos and see if it would result in ovulation and normal cycles. The first month, I had a little breast tenderness and a twingy kind of ache by my right ovary...and success - I ovulated for probably the first time ever. Likewise for each month following. Today I had my regular progrestrone/liver function testing, and early in the week had similar sensations as the past few months, so I thought I ovulated again (no big deal...or so I thought...I just want everything to work correctly). Anyhow, this afternoon the RE's office called and I spoke to the nurse. I did not ovulate, and my progrestrone level is 1.3. She said anything over 2 would indicate some form of ovulation (previous numbers were all over 8), and because I hadn't o'd, the RE wants me on Provera (10 mg. for 10 days) to bring on af. Anyhow, I was wondering if the breast tenderness and abdominal pains aren't really because of ovulation, but something else...or am I making myself into a nut case by "thinking" that I must have ovulated????

I feel so disappointed, after months of everything going well and now nothing.

Breast Tenderness is a secondary sign of ovulation. I am also surprised that the doctor is so quick to put you on Provera. Like someone else said, even "normal" women's cycles are irregular and don't always include ovulation. One month without a period isn't a big deal, it's just when that month drags out to 2, 3, etc that I'd think he'd go to the Provera.

I hope that everything works out well.

Thanks, ladies. No, there's no way I could be pregnant (except if an angel forgot to visit !)

I plan to call my RE tomorrow morning...I'm still kinda confused about this stuff, and I'm hoping to talk to him, not just one of the nurses...hopefully!

I just wish I had some other explaination for the breast tenderness...instead of my imagination running wild (you know, something not so bad, like a little bit of stress).

Oh, well! at least today I'm not feeling so down about everything...there's something about this site that always seems to calm me down!

Default Just talked to my RE

He's not overly concerned about the lack of ovulation. Essentially, he feels that it could be from any number of things (stress, lack of activity - I haven't been super good about exercise the last few weeks, and the list goes on.) He seemed to think that my hormones are still trying to correct themselves (he likened this to puberty...don't need to go through that again!). In the meantime, he'd like me on Provera to induce a period this month just to keep things on some sort of a regular cycle. He didn't seem too confident that I would get my period on my own this month (it's really good at disappearing when it wants).

Anyhow, there are a few other hormones at play that he seems to think could have caused the breast tenderness and ovarian twinges. Essentially, my body is trying to do the right stuff, but just needs a bit of help. I was told the breast tenderness should go away as my progrestrone level increases (which I don't notice it at all today...but I felt that I should mention it to him).

Thanks again ladies for your support and reasurrances. Everything is gonna be okay (someday )
