WOO HOO!! Just picked up my prescription!! I got my next round of Clomid, and a new batch of Metformin to start on! Doctor called today, and he said he was shocked at how much I had done my research, his specialist friend basically repeated what I had said word for word lol So he's put me on 850mg (is that right?) to start with... I'm looking forward to this cycle!! Bring it on!!

Hi all. Sheree, I started on 850mg a day. That was my Ob-Gyn, and it did slightly improve the length of my cycles - from absolutely erratic they went to 54ish days (usually ovulated around CD38). This year I went to an RE and the one and only good thing that came out of that was that she upped the dose to 1500mg, which has given me regular 37ish day cycles (ovulating on CD21). I find it amazing and am extremely happy with it, it's such a wonderful thing to have a regular cycle after a lifetime of not!

If I were you I'd start on the 850, but if you don't have too many side effects, I'd push for an increased dosage.

How's everyone else doing? Into the mad Christmas rush of shopping/parties etc, I suppose. Have a good weekend all.

~Katie~ Thanks for the advice, I was also thinking the same thing. Most people on the boards I've met start lower and go up. I'll definitely be pushing for a higher dose if I think I need to, and the s/e's aren't too bad. This cycle was only 36 days, and I'm more than happy with that, so I'm hoping the Clomid and the Met together will work to get me regular, and preggars lol. I've also read that it lowers the miscarriage risk, all positive to me. I'm looking forward to starting, and seeing what happens now.

Thanks for sharing :-)

YAY!! Christmas.... If there was an advent calendar to count down the days till i go Christmas shopping, I'd buy one!!! lol This week I'm picking up DD's bike... I have to find somewhere to hide it!

Sheree, I definitely think it's better to start out on a lower dose of met in order to allow your body to get used to it and avoid the side effects as much as possible..but I agree with Katie, after you've been on the 850mg/day for awhile, you may want to push the idea of increasing the dose. I'm currently on 1,500mg of Diabex XR which worked for me but I was also on 3,000 mg of regular met about 6 months prior to starting the XR version. I don't wish the 3,000 mg on anybody though, the side effects were terrible and made me feel like I was being poisoned, however there are a lot of people who will say that regular met seems to produce results faster....the XR has worked very well for me though.

As Hayles said, it doesn't work for everyone but it certainly worked for me and it's worth a shot. Let us know how you go!!

Hey all,

Thanks for thinking of me - just a quick post because I'm at work. IUI went okay, I test on Monday. I'll try and check back with everyone tonight when I get home. Take care, all.

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I have been so, so, so busy with the Christmas and Scouts things that I haven't had time to sneeze!!! Just wanted to update and let you know that AF started last night, just in time for testing today!! B**CH!!! However, we shall prevail. The plan now is to have a couple of months break, try and lose about 10lbs and have a laparoscopy to drain a couple of cysts on my right ovary, that Margo thinks are causing problems. The surgery won't be able to done for about 3 months, so that gives me time to lose the weight.

I guess I should start back on the Metformin as well, but as we are going away at Christmas to Moore River, I should probably stay around near toilets so I am going to start again when we get home.

I'm off to cry at the moment. I still had to have blood tests to "lay the cycle to rest", which totally rubs salt into the wound. Thanks for thinking of me, everyone.

Love, Gina xxx

I'm really sorry Gina. It's such a horrible thing to be going through. You do sound positive though, and having a plan like weight loss helps keep your mind off things. I need to lose about the same amount, but I'm gonna wait for the new year - there's no way I'm going to get through Christmas and lose weight at the same time. I got really slack with my eating and exercise this year, and my resolution is to get fit and healthy again. I also had a lap to remove a 'dermoid' cyst that my gynae thought might be causing some probs. I had it done nearly a year ago. Moore River sounds good - take some time to relax and enjoy yourself without thinking of all this if you can

How's the met treating you Sheree? Sounds like things are going well.

hkgrl - congrats on your pregnancy! Do you mind me asking if you had treatments to conceive?

Hope everyone's good. I'm exhausted, working in retail so Xmas is simply draining. And DH has taken off over east (home) for Chrissie, so I'm all alone. It's quite nice in a way though. Only bummer is I'm probably going to O tomorrow, but we managed to get in some BD last night before he left, so you never know.

Take care all

Hi Ladies Merry Christmas, and happy new year to you all. Hope you had a good one :-) Ours was, we did nothing at all on Christmas day, just stayed at home in the aircon... it was AWESOME!! lol

I'm 7 DPO today WOO HOO!! Crossing my fingers, I have a good feeling about this cycle, but it might just be because this is the first time I've O'd and BD'd the right time since beginning TTC. No symptoms or anything yet that I can pinpoint as possibly PG. We'll see

How is everyone else??

Hayles, when are you having bubs?? Can't wait to see piccy's. Wishing you all the best for the big day

Gina, sorry it's late but HUGS for everything, hope Moore river was good, sounds awesome. I love river holidays!

Bekz, How's everything going?? Any new developments for you??
