| Registered User | Happy New Year Everyone!! Hayles- Congrats!! She's adorable..I'm jealous, I wish I could speed up time to July! Katiekeen- Of course I don't mind you asking and sorry for the very late reply!! I was on about 2,500 mg of regular metformin for about 8 months and lost approx. 30lbs (I was put on met because I didn't ovulate at all). The doctor then took me off it for about 6-7 months to see how my body would react. I was still on the pill at that time but I guess she just wanted to see if I would keep the weight off....Nope! That's about when I moved to Sydney and my new doctor put me on 1,500mg of Diabex XR. I stayed on that for a month or two before stopping the pill and I got pregnant the first cycle. I think metformin is amazing (for me at least) however I have done a bit of reading and some doctors believe that the best time for a women to try and conceive is when they first come off the pill so I wonder if maybe this had a lot to do with how quickly it happened for me as well. Whatever the case, I do consider myself very lucky. I hope all of my babbling will help in some way and feel free to ask me anything anytime. I hope you get a BFP soon!!! BTW- I have stayed on metformin so far during this pregnancy (I guess in the hope that it may help prevent a miscarriage) but have just tested positive for gestational diabetes so I don't know what exactly is going to happen next. Sheree- Wishing you all the best and hope to hear good news soon! Gina- I hope you are staying cool!

I had a small amount of spotting this morning, but not as much as with Shayla. So, all seems to be going well :-) We're all very excited! HKgirl, this is my first cycle on Met :-) I'm loving it already lol!!

| Registered User Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Adelaide, South Australia ![]() | Hi ladies, well unfortunately I miscarried 2 days ago. It was still very early, so I'm guessing a chemical pregnancy. I've had a pretty rough time since getting my BFPs, not sick, or symptoms or anything, just the doctors giving me the runaround. I got my BFP on Thursday, went to the doctor on Friday at 14dpo for a blood test... he sent me to get an ultrasound. I told the tech how far I was, he laughed at me. I told the tech I thought the doctor was a dickhead. I then had to drive to gribbles for a blood test, I don't know why the doctor couldn't do it himself? Maybe not qualified... it would NOT surprise me. So, I had to wait all weekend, until Tuesday to find out the results. First off he reads out everything, all my hormones, everything. everything looked normal, then he gets to the pregnancy part, and skims over it saying "da da da da da daaaa...." As if he'd forgotten what I was there for in the first place. I had to ask him what my levels were. My hCG at 14 DPO was 29, at that early, that's a positive. Anything over 5 is a positive. Well, the doctor looks at his little chart and tells me no, I'm definitely not pregnant, it should be in the 1'000s already. AT this point I had had enough of this ridiculous little gnome, and just sighed, and went to leave. He then told me to come back in 2 weeks. I got a little frazzled and told him plainly, and loud enough for the waiting room to hear me "No I will NOT be coming back here, you can shred my file. You have absolutely no idea, and should NOT be trusted to handle pregnancies!" So that was doctor number 1... Doctor 2 was better, but still not so great. The news this time though wasn't so good either. My hCG had only climbed to 38 in 4 days. I had to point it out to her that this news means something pretty bad, and had to cut her off before she congratulated me. Doctor 3... My gyno appointment at the hospital. The ultrasound people call an hour before my appointment saying I can go pick them up. I call the hospital, and tell them that my gyno will definitely want to see these, and I MAY be a little late. They "make a note on my record" and thank me for calling them. I race from the ultrasound place, all the way to the city, tackle the traffic, finally find a park.. and enter 10 minutes late to my appointment. The nurse explains that everyone has already left for home. It's 4.10pm. The gyno, the actual one I had the appointment with comes out to tell me I'll have to come back another time. I then explain to her whats happening, and that my ultrasound shows something, and I need someone to explain it to me, and that i want to confirm it's not ectopic. This doesn't phase her, and she tells me to go to the ER. So.. I get down to the ER, the nurse behind the desk is having a ***** about me to another nurse. She doesn't look up, she keeps going. I then pretend I couldn't hear her, and tell her who I was... and she laughs. I let this one slide. Finally, the doctor sees me, she examines me, it's not ectopic. However I do have a 6cm cyst on my ovary. They take blood, and I wait another hour for the results. My hCG had dropped to 17 and she tells me what I already knew. This was last Thursday Saturday I started bleeding heavily, right in time for the weekend. I send DH to the bottle-o for reinforcements. So, thats my story. I'm feeling a lot better now, although AF is still here. I am however determined to not leave this cycle out. I haven't seen my gyno yet, but she'll probably tell me to stop, and maybe birth control to help the cyst. I don't think I can NOT try this cycle though. I have a really REALLY strong feeling that this is my month. I haven't been told to stop Clomid yet, as I haven't been in to see the gyno yet (this Thursday is my appt.) But I know it's not good to continue with a cyst. I'm hoping I still ovulate without it. Has anyone had any experience with cysts, or Clomid here? I've heard you still have it in your system one cycle after you stop. Thanks for listening, and sorry it was so long :-)

| Registered User | Sheree- I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry that you had to go through this with those ridiculous doctors. I would have expected at least the gyno to be more helpful. All she had to do was look at the u/s, how unfortunate. I'm sorry I don't know anything about clomid but keep up on the met as that should help you ovulate too. Wishing you and your DH all the best..
