Can I join?? I havent posted a lot on this forum as by the time I get onto it during the day, there are SO many posts to have to sift through! Im hoping being in the same timezone (well, mostly) will help alleviate this problem!
Im Britt, originally from CA in the US, married to Jonno, originally from NZ...both of us are Aus citizens. We have one little boy, Carter who was a wonderful surprise and it wasnt until we tried to get pg again did I get diagnosed with pcos (even tho I suspected I had it years ago). We have done several rounds of clomid to no avail, and all of DH's tests have come back great, so the problem still lies with me. I started Diabex XR in April last year and have had semi-regular ovulatory cycles since.
This last Nov, I decided enough was enough and I was going to budge this weight once and for all...I have since lost 15.5kg, over 10% of my body weight, but still a whopping 53kg to go to goal weight (altho I will most likely reassess 3/4 of the way there)...I am 2kg away from my lowest weight in like 6 years. Im trying to focus solely on losing the weight and getting healthy, but the urge to get pg again is so strong...I digress....
Im a stay-at-home-mum and love it...altho miss the adult interaction. We live in Sydney.
Anyway, thats me in a nutshell! Glad I found you girls!!

I've been MIA lately, so thought I might pop in and say hello! I've been a little sour about other areas of the boards, no body replies to any question I post lol. I'm very glad there's still this group though :-) Thanks all for your kind words and well wishes, it really does mean a lot to me.
So, I'm on CD22 today, missed todays temp, but I don't think I'm ready to O yet :-( Bummer!!
It was my birthday this week, and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. My car broke down, and I had to cancel all sorts of appointments to run around chasing parts. late to every appointment, including Shayla's first day of pre-entry kindy (YAY!! She absolutely loved it!!) AND, Scott forgot! grrrr! We did get to go out last night though, Montezumas for dinner.... Mmmmm, margarita's and enchilada.. Then a pool hall, then we found a bar/club/hotel that had a retro night on, all songrs from 1980, to 1999 WOO HOO!! So much fun, dancing to Mmm Bop, and Michael Jackson lol.
Hello and WELCOME to the newbies!!!

My Mood: Points: 22,393.85 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 22,393.85 | Hi there, another Aussie girl here Im Louise, from Melbourne, nice to "meet" you all and great to be able to chat to others going through the same stuff with the horrid PCOS!! I'm currently suffering from severe pains due to first period in 8 months .. I'm sure you all know the feeling .. MAJOR OUCH!! Having said that, of course I'm pleased I'm finally having a natural period. Just wish the pain wasn't so horrible. Hmmm you'd think I'd be used to it by now, always suffered major pain with periods since I first got it when I was 11. But somehow, everytime it happens, the pain almost shocks me. Anyhoo, I've recently had my hormone levels checked, now have to get insulin resistance checked again. Doctor thinks I would benefit from going on Metformin. I'm carrying too much weight, especially around my tummy, I swear I look 3 months pregnant grrrr. Anyone had good experience with Metformin. I also suffer from clinical depression and have only now (from reading these boards) realised the PCOS and depression are linked. I'm pretty shocked not one doc or specialist has made the link with me before this. I'm in anti depressants for my depression. The past hmm prob 10 days my depression got progressively worse for no particular reason (but theres often not a reason for my type of depression), and now having got my period today, I realise its probably all related to the hormone levels???? Um a bit about me. Well I'm 37, never been married, no kids (except 2 fur babies, my puppies who I adore and treat like my kids!), currently single. i find it's hard to find a man who can tolerate someone who suffers from depression and PCOS, would take a pretty understanding man, and well I haven't found one yet Anyway, look forward to chatting to fellow aussie soul cysters. Hugs Lou |

Britt, I find the same thing being on the other side of the world to most of the ladies who use this site a little frustrating too. I can never keep up with the posts. Congratulations on your weight loss! Woo hoo, well done!
Lou, sorry your feeling so down at the moment. I went on Metformin and it seemed to help me. Lets hope that your hormones will get into some sort of order soon so that you can start to feel a little better.
Hello everyone else! Been very quiet lately - although I hadn't been getting notifications so I thought it had been REALLY quiet! Not much going on here. My work (in a pharmacy - we look after approx 30 nursing homes) gets worse every week I go in - I can't stand it anymore. Four people got laid off last week, one person resigned this week and we all had meetings with the HR lady and pretty much told her that this place was shyte and that we were all looking for other jobs. That went well! I'm in the process of getting into selling Tupperware. I did it years ago to get extra money for our wedding and decided that if I ever had kids I would do it again...so here I go! My boys are beautiful and mostly behaving well...kind of. Campbell (my youngest) has been sick off and on for what seems like ages now. He had a vomiting bug, then a cold which has developed into a horrible cough. Yesterday I thought he was getting croupe. We'll just have to wait and see what today brings.
Hope you all have a lovely week!

Sheree - I never posted how sorry I was about your mc. I hope you had a beautiful birthday.
Welcome Louise, Sare, & Britt.
Hi Donna, your work sounds exactly like mine. I actually gave my notice today - I'm the 5th person to quit in the last month, and a fair few have been fired. What did it for me was my stepfather died two days ago after a fairly short (3 months) but fierce battle with kidney cancer. I had the week off work anyway, and my whole perspective on the work situation became clear. It was such a good feeling to call my horrible boss today and let him know. There are more important things in life than working for w*****ers. I will go back next week for one week and then it's onto finding something new! I hope the Tupperware thing works out for you.
Talk later all, take care x

Sooo glad I've found this site!!
I'm having my glucose/insulin resistance test done hopefully on Tuesday (time permitting). Then back to the GP and hopefully onto Metformin.
Do you think it's best to just get Metformin from the GP or to go see a specialist? I really want to get proactive about treating my PCOS and get my weight and depression under control!!
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend

I'd love to join this thread- feels more like home- even though time wise I'm 9 hours behind you all.
I have 2 kids- DS 5 years old and DD 1 on friday!!
I started homeopathy 2 months ago, as an alternative remedy. Started mostly cause I got sick really often and antibiotics would give me pretty bad side effects. The homeopathic dr said he'll also try to help my pco's and I think he has. After giving birth and having no Af for 9 months (after taking pills to bring it on), since I started homeopathy I got af in 38 days and just today EXACTLY 28 days after. My cycles are a little strange and I have very little blood for 3-4 days before AF.
Are homeopathic remedies used in Australia?
By the way, any advice on teething? DD is really restless today. She's been in a bad mood since yesterday and today she's hardly eaten. She already has 7 teeth which came out without a problem.
Nice to "meet" you all
Fay

As for teething, the only advice I have is just the usual - Ibuprofen (it's anti inflammatory and pain relieving) or paracetamol. Another good idea I heard but never actually did was get a face washer and wet it and put it in the freezer. The cold will help and the texture of the washer feels great on little gums.

You have no idea how much I miss Australia!! I dream about it often. I'm trying to convince DH to go on a holiday there, but the thing is you can't just go for a week or two- I need several months !!!
