Talking Pagan Cysters... Samhain/Samhuinn ideas?

Having missed the Equinox, I'm starting to think about Samhuinn (ahead of myself, here!)
This past year has been a very bad one for us and so am looking forward to starting a new one!

How do you other pagan cysters prepare for Samhuinn, and what do you do for it? I know we're just over a month away, but I want to make it a good one, this year! It should be particularly powerful as I'm about to complete my ovate work and pass on to the final grade of my studies with the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. ( You can find our website here: www.druidry.org ) The ovate year (usually it takes longer than a year) is a very dark and difficult time for many people who pass through it - so I am planning on coinciding moving onwards and upwards, with this time of year. So it's going to be an extra special Samhuinn for me.

Just wondering what the rest of you do, and why it's an important time of year for you? (If it is!)

Love and 100 watt light, Polly x

Hiya PollySis! It's always a good idea to plan early even though I know a lot of us who are on PST (pagan standar time.....at least an hour late! *L*) Last year was a difficult year for me with some very special people passing away but the Samhain ritual I did helped with that. If you're interested I can post it, it doesn't even have to be for those passed on (though with the thin veil and all that was my reasoning). This year I'm involved with a learning coven and we're a bit disorganized at the moment so we've not officially planned anything. I'm also involved in the Pagan Federation and the group in my area is doing a sort of "fun day". In the afternoon we are having different children's activities like apple bobbing, pumpkin carving and painting I'm sure. Then after a short clean up we are doing an adult disco. I'm sure we'll have an interesting mix as usual.
If you're stuck for ideas meditation has always been very helpful for me. Just remember what this season is all about!
If you ever want to chat just PM me!
Good luck with the planning!
