As pagans, we're pro-active - we don't need to beg any god to intercede or 'bless' us with a child or make something happen - we go out do a spell (or have a friend do one), voila baby. Or that was my experience, despite my PCOS being at the severer end of the scale. Whether it happens for psychological reasons - or whether it's what we'd call magic, you know I dunno? Just we're pro-active and positive because a pagan belief system puts the responsibility on us, not some third party? Or because we know it works? (Which it does). Baby - outcome - is something we believe and know we can make happen if we want it to. It's not conditional on us praying or doing x y or z. Know how to do a working and - it happens. I'm not sure what is going on, but before I was pagan, I waited 8 years to have a viable baby. After I was pagan? 6 weeks would be a bit of a long wait.... (And ebaring in mind I usually only had one period a year if that!)

Something I haven't done this time around and I'm still trying. | Have you read any of Shakti Gawain's creative visualisation? Parts of the book are dedicated to healing meditations and affirmations. Some of it could help you too Erin with your meditation (though I'm not so good at meditating either - I'm always thinking about something, lol)

(And ebaring in mind I usually only had one period a year if that!) | I've always been pagan (just didn't tie it to that word while I was growing up) and I always just "knew" I would have a problem having children. I grew up wondering whether I would ever conceive - none of my friends ever even questioned whether they would or wouldn't.
I was totally shocked because I became pg six weeks of "trying" but I was quite young and my PCOS symptoms had not really kicked in - I had the dark marks, the obvious high testosterone but no period problems etc. at that time yet.
I did m/c a few years earlier (at age 18) which I had felt was a little girl - but although I was devastated I was not ready at that point to raise a child.
Although I think we can ask for things and often these things happen (though sometimes I have found with a twist) I don't think it's always that straightforward. I think there are other factors at play and I believe that things happen that you ask for provided it's for "the good of all concerned" at that particular point in time. As life unfolds you can often see reasons why certain things turned out the way they did.
Okay I'm waffling now - but I meant to say really that it's not always as simple as "voila + baby" - sometimes life has a different opinion. There may be some other reason/block that has to be dealt with first

Being a Catholic just never set right with me and knew something else was out there for me just could not put my finger on it. Found Wicca and everything just clicked. Found out I had PCOS about 8 years ago. Husband was not supportive at all and was verbally abusive towards me and I kicked him out after 12 years. Have boyfriend now and he is just so great. Will get into more details later. Just happy to be apart of Soulcysters and glad to have a thread for the Pagan sisters as well. Blessed be all!!!!

My Mood: Points: 670.20 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 670.20 | Hi everyone! I'm so happy to see a Pagan thread!
I'm the result of a Southern Baptist father and a Roman Catholic Mom. I usually just tell people I'm "Baplic" if they're someone I'm not comfortable with. I've been Wiccan since I was about 15 (however now I associate more as Pagan). I was very lucky to find a coven and stayed close for several years. As with all things change was inevitable and we all parted ways. Now I practice as a solitary.
After my husband and I got married he converted from Christianity to Wicca. He's in the ANG and had "Wiccan" put on his dog tags. It didn't sit well with some of the unit but overall they're accepting. His family hates it and has tried terror tactics to get him back to their church. My family expects weird out of me and just shrug and say "that's April for ya".
Since we've been TTC we've had a few people try to convert us back to Christianity, most coming from my husband's fanatical family. They try to say that our choice of faith is unhealthy for a child and that we're damming them to hell. With me being a very outspoken person their attempts were thwarted quickly and with as much sarcasm as possible. Has anyone else had that happen?

There is a Hell? Yes it seems like sarcasm is the only way to defend ourselves. I hate saying it but it is true. We all have our own beliefs and where ever we go and how we choose to live our lives is up to us as individuals. It is just sometime a lot of people forget that. I have run into people who are like that. Now what surprised me was a lot of my friends and some coworkers have been very open about me being a Wiccan. I just wish some people could just respect our choices.
Can't we all just get along?!?!?

My Mood: Points: 7,932.41 Bank: 265,130.74 Total Points: 273,063.15 | My usual response to the whole going to 'hell' bit is...
"Hel- yep that sounds good, don't feel like dying as a warrior. Old age/sickness sounds very reasonable to me. And I mean living in Canada I'm used to living in cold so all I'd be missing is the massive taxes. Thanks. Besides, I'd prefer not to spend eternity with fundies."
I don't usually get that alot as I am a quiet practitioner. And it helps that Hubby's parents aren't too religious. I've learned often to sit quiet and be polite around certain family members who get a little preachy- (DH's cousin is a Pastor, but seems to be very tolerant)
I'm sure the whole religion thing will come up with the devoute catholics in the family but right now its a don't ask don't tell situation. You should have heard the complaints when I looked into Mormonism.

My Mood: Points: 4,757.25 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 4,757.25 | well, I haven't posted in here for a long time, but I'd thought I'd say "Hi".
I'm still in my quest for my "path". It's been a long journey and it's far from over. Right now I'm amazed at how I can see a common thread of spirituality throughout all religions, KWIM?
Anyway, I'm reading this really good book right now called "Pagan Spirituality." It's all about finding your own spiritual development. I think it's by River Higgenbotham. Has anyone read it? Any thoughts about it?
About hell, that is my mother's favorite way to scare me into going to church. I'll admit that my fundie Pentecostal background sometimes creeps back in and I wake up panicked. But like I told my mom, I'm not going to serve any God because of fear. That is a crappy way to live life and who wants to serve a God that only wants to scare you? (I'm not saying that the Christian god is like that, I'm just saying that scaring someone into it is just icky.) I'm not sure where I stand on the subject, but I will say that more and more I think that hell is facing your own "demons" and fears until you can come into a better place, either during life or after death. Ok, I'm done now. lol.
Thanks for being here everyone! I appreciate it!
