Points: 3,305.20 Bank: 6,828.44 Total Points: 10,133.64 | Pagan Mamas: It's Spring! :) I thought I'd start a topic for the earthy-mamas out there, Pagan sisters on the board.
Here in NW Georgia it is certainly spring. Check our 5,000 something pollen count, or look at my very yellow porch to see it. It started about a month ago here, itchy to burst forth. There were tell-tell sales like the grackles coming in, and wild daffodils popping up when it was still cold. I'm afraid we're going to have a scorcher of a summer. The signs indicate very dry, and very, very hot.
Spriritually speaking, the spring time helps me so much!!! Usually by the time the first itchings of spring roll around I'm so craving the spring that those first signs help pull me out of the darkness of winter. Now, I appreciate the time of going within, the down time, the pulling back from growing and instead looking inside that comes with winter. But I'm a fire-spring-child, Aries, and I LOVE the spring!!! It's a time when I feel that I'm truly renewing my spirit, my heart, my life, my love --- I'm waking back up.
I also see that spring time helps me have a more positive outlook on my health. It's good to feel that too, that renewal of self on another level.
I celebrated Ostara with a friend's group this past Saturday. They shared a wonderful ritual drama in their rite about Persephone and Demeter. It was beautiful! Although I am not of their tradition, and believe somewhat differently than they do, it was good to be with others of similar mindset. My own MIL died a little over a month ago after battling cancer, and I still needed to release some emotion from that. It was nice to have the sacred space to do that. In our Tradition, this past Monday was our Feast of Earth (we call it by a Cornish name, as our trad comes from Cornwall England).
I got out this past Sunday and planted some flowers and herbs in pots around our deck. I got me a new bay laurel tree! YEAH! I can't plant it in the ground here as it gets too cold, but I have so missed having one. A very sacred plant that is. And I planted marigolds, and snapdragons, and some gerber daisies. I also put in a few basils, and a cilantro.
What have you been doing for Spring? What do you find this time represents for your life, and spirit? SHARE!

It is spring here and the storms are rolling in. I had to get Conner out in the pouring rain today. I didn't really plan it that way... it just started pouring while we were out. My hubby and I are both pagan although we don't identify any specific god or goddess. We identify with the male and female perspectives that the seasons bring. I am a Leo, a summer baby, but I identify most with fall and winter. That, for me, brings out the goddess in me! I am really thankful for winter because that's when we were blessed with our son after a nice druid ritual (and clomid LOL). But I do look forward to seeing my son discover the colors of spring and the fun of summer.
It seems like for me spiritually I am more mellow and laid back in spring and summer. I go with the flow and just observe my surroundings.
I look forward to see more mommy's join in. I am curious if anyone deals with christian family who don't agree with your beliefs. That's the boat I'm in. No one has said anything to me about it in a while but I have a feeling that it will come up a lot once Conner starts getting older. But we both agree that he will be free to make his own choice about what he believes in. If it's different that ours then tha's great. If he chooses to believe the same as us then that's great too. It's all about the individual and what maks him happy and helps him be the best person he can be.
Well I'm out for now... gotta get dinner going!

I am a pagan mama to my 13 year old son. My hubby has Pagan beliefs as well just not so strongly.. his mom practices Santeria.
Rainyangl.. I came from a very very Catholic Family. My sisters now that I am Pagan but not my mom or dad cause they would freak. My mom hands out communion and is very active in her church.. so as of now, they don't know. What have you been doing for Spring? What do you find this time represents for your life, and spirit? I like the spring.. cause I like Ostara and what it symbolizes. ((Fertility)). and new life & the coming of the sun out of the darkness. Too smell the flowers and sit in nature w/ my journal and write. I like to do a house cleansing spell in the spring as well. I usually like the Autumn best.. I am an Aries as well. But I am not a very go getter that Aries are.. I have more like Pieces qualities. I am outgoing and I talk alot but I am so not a go getter or I would have already lost this stubborn weight.. LOL~ ======================================== I was catholic but felt something was missing in my life.. and I didn't like the fact that it was such a man filled religion. So I researched and researched and now I have been Pagan for 6 years now. I got confirmed in the Catholic Church in 2001, as a request from my mom. I didn't want to dissapoint her so I went and did it. After the confirmation, I had to go within myself and ask myself if I really wanted to commit myself to this religion all my life. I couldn't deny the Goddess part.. I wanted a balance between the two. There isn't that in Catholicism.. they mention Mary as a Goddess but most of the time they only mention her when someone dies. I didn't like that part so I decided to change religions or way of life and I couldn't be happier. I love being Pagan.. it is a very loving and respectful way of life. Love & Namastè, Meg

I've been a pagan for 16 years now and I LOVE the Spring! The rebirth of the earth, the flowers and trees coming alive, the great fresh air. It all makes me feel close to the Goddess and God.
I have been meditating on a daily basis, praying to the Goddess to help me find the strength in myself to try to get pregnant. Sometimes I have ups and downs but I try to remember that we all have that inner strength, it's just waiting to be tapped into.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi to everyone! |

Just got back from a mini-vacation with the hubby. Went to the beach for a few nights. Our son is away on his first big-boy trip without us -- and this was the first time in 10 years we'd had time by ourselves for a few days. Was great!

Also love imbolc and after. Have been madly weeding and planting. Here is sunny Yorkshire, England we have been having lots of sunshine and hot weather (global warming has its upside!) Have planted garlic, spring onions, chinese leaves, lettuce, tomatoes, courgettes and also lots of flowers in jiffy pots, ready to stick out in the garden when the risk of frost is over... geraniums, bizzy lizzies, petunias, lobelia, carnations, etc. Also some viola and pansy plants. Have had to do a lot of strenuous stuff as the weeds had run riot - last summer was very wet and we hardly got out into the garden. But now it's back under control! In May, I'll put lots of stuff into hanging basket, and containers and the leftovers go in little spaces in the garden that need filling!
I don't have a greenhouse but hae a little cold frame to grow things on, in.
Every Spring I go the 30 odd miles up to Haworth (we're the Brontes lived), so will do that next week. Also take the kids for a day at the seaside, to Whitby. It is good exercise as there are the famous 199 steps down from the cliff top to the beach.

My Mood: Points: 567.35 Bank: 626.36 Total Points: 1,193.70 | Hi everybody!
I'm not a mama yet either, but I hopefully will be in the not-too-distant future. I'm basically an eclectic Pagan who honors Celtic and Greek deities so far, but I'm very open to different thoughts and ideas. My husband is Pagan also, but more of a pantheist. I was raised as a Lutheran, and my mother is quite religious (I won't say spiritual.. she doesn't really know her religion, but is quite adamant about it) and would never understand my choice to become a Pagan. I haven't really had to deal with it, though... due to her chronic alcoholism, we really don't have a relationship at this point. My in-laws are great, though... my father-in-law is basically a pantheist and described himself this weekend as a Pagan (which was pretty cool!), and my mother-in-law is a lapsed Catholic who might think I'm a bit strange, but doesn't have a problem with Paganism at all.
Spring is one of my favorite times of year... I love to see the first bulbs come up... first the snowdrops and crocuses, and now the daffodils and forsythia are out. I love the smell of the air when the spring comes... it smells of life and new growth and hope. I usually sow some seeds... right now, I have basil, tomatoes, sweet peas, flax, geraniums, and cornflowers in seed trays, and when it gets warmer (which it hopefully will do soon!!!) I will transplant them outside, and sow some parsley, tarragon, and dill. I have perennial sage and chives in the garden, also.
Happy Spring everyone.. may we in the eastern US thaw out soon so we can get our plants in the ground!
