My Mood: Points: 21,741.24 Bank: 237.70 Total Points: 21,978.94 | Maybe if you can find some pagans in your area will be a nice way of meeting new people as you settle in, and you will eventually find someone who can go into the course with you, some time down the line?
If you want to share the course, I think you have to go in to the course together at the start, but once you have the materials you can work at your own paces? I've heard the new course is brilliant - as was the old - but different so my old materials wouldn't be much use to you. On the closed parts of the website, we now have to have different areas depending on whether you are on the new or old course, so I'm guessing it's quite a LOT different now!
I've gained from them, but know I'm probably no further along the path with than without - although people rate OBOD, you'd be fine without it, honest!

The path has been passed down from generation to generation in my family. I've also been dragged to other faiths by my mother but never worked out.
Don't know why its taken me this long or why today is the day that I finally needed to post here. But here I am. Hi ladies!

My Mood: Points: 4,478.18 Bank: 84,071.76 Total Points: 88,549.94 | Sorry it took so long to respond- wedding things and all that wonderful chaos.
Mostly it covers the changes of the season, taking care of our earth and utilizing it (heavy gardeners/cooks/canning of fruits etc...) knowing and making good use of the resources around us. Ensuring we draw on the energy of the earth and try not to disturb things that have been here longer than humans have. Each family member has different talents. My sister is a medium and has a magnetic field- I have a de-magnetising quality, but can see the beginings and endings (life/death- I hate hospitals because I can always see who's about to leave the body), so it was always a balaced struggle between the two of us. I use both runes and Tarot and can use the pendulm- thanks to my father. We actually lost a lot of the knowledge when my father passed away because he didn't believe in teaching a lot of things until we had our hormones under control (some things don't mix well with teenage tempers)-that sort of thing. Sorry I can't be any more clear on it, when you've lived with something so long its kinda like breathing- it just happens, it just is.

Anyway, I thought I'd just stop by and say hi. I'm not really any recognizable "path". Mostly a kitchenwitch or some such nonsense. I've never been into much "spell working" or "circle casting" though if I was lol, there's an ad at the bottom of the page offering real love spells from a "7th generation High Witch" hahahaha. I'm not Wiccan. Or eclectic really. I'm a bit too much into actual history to believe in "An it harm none do what you will". No offense. Hm. I'm trying to find words. I believe in the energy of the world. Mother Nature. Perhaps inspired by Celtic/Norse way of life. I use runes sometimes too. Au Natural I suppose. LOL. Well how's that for rambling?
Nice to meet you all. Looking forward to some interesting discussions.

My Mood: Points: 5,002.78 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,002.78 | hi ladies..i was brought up in a catholic home...however it has never felt right. after my father passed away 8 yrs ago i started exploring wicca/paganism however my mom found out and flipped so i kind of stayed away...but i am really feeling like a need to find my path and i know it is not the catholic i was raised...to many ways to put holes into what they are saying...to much dictating...i havnt attended a mass since i became confirmed( which is basically meaning your an adult in the church) and thats because no one can make me...i never liked you sit there and they make u stand sit knel repeat and preach at you...it just never fit for me. But i digress...i guess what my point is that i have always felt pulled towards tarrot cards everytime i see a book on it or some actual cards i have to stop and look and if i do walk past i always go back...i just feel pulled to them. i just dont know where to start....i mean...i wish there was someone to guide me to help me figure out which path i want to head down...i know its in this direction you ladies are so diverse i dont know how i figure out which of those paths i go down....i dk any help is appreciated

My Mood: Points: 2,256.54 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,256.54 | I'm really glad that I found this thread.
I'm just starting to contemplate my journey or path.
As the PP, I was also raised in a strict Christian home. About 6 years ago, I started asking questions about my faith and beliefs that I was brought up with. I was met with so much resistance from my family that I literally had to move into a secured building where people had to be "buzzed" in to see me. It helped alot with the "surprise, we're here to save you" visits. So, eventually, after coming to terms with alot of "holes" about my previous faith, I've been wondering without any belief for 5 years. For those of you that may have done this, I was surprised at how hard this was. So, I started researching. Everything I researched led back to earth centered religions. I finally bit the bullet and decided to really do some research and find out more about which path is right for me. I talked to my husband about it (a Christian) and at first I could tell he was worried. Now he seems to be very accepting of my books lying around. He even picked up one to thumb through it. My family is still very strict Pentecostal and don't even like to hear about my liberal political views, so I don't even bring up religion. One day, I know I may have to, but for now I'm using my energy in finding out my own way.
So, this is where I'm starting. I picked up two books. Both are by the authors Joyce and River Higgenbotham.
Paganism- an introduction to earth centered religions
and
Paganism- Spirituality a guide to self transformation/journey/something like that. lol
Sorry about the long post. Just thought I'd share my story and thank others for sharing theirs.
I'm so glad that I found this thread!
