Unhappy The Pain

I am a newbie and of course I have billions of questions and multiple issues. The most immediate concern for me is the pain I am experiencing. The DR has recommended Depo Provera. No one else is discussing the interaction between PCOS and Depo Provera, I assume because of the infertility and pregnancy issues. I have been lucky to have two children, my sister was not and just had to have a hesterectomy last month. Does anyone know about Depo Provera and how it affects PCOS?

Thanks, I thought no one was going to answer because I am new. Appreciate the welcome. I am very stressed about all of this.

Hi. Welcome to SC.
Here is a link to a site about Depo provera
http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/health-info/sexual/birthcon/depoprov.html
another one
http://www.abcinternetmarketing.com/depo-provera/
one more
http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/dep1126.htm
I don't know anything about DP but thought these sites might help you.
This is the Birth Control forum here at SC. It might have some info for DP.

Thank you for the response, I had looked at those sites already and that is what is making me quetion the doctor. I did find the BCP site here and have a posting there also. I do not think I am going to get much feed back because it seems that most people with PCOS have trouble conceiving already and DP seems to affect the ability to conceive too soooo I don't think anyone else has taken it. Which brings me back to why did my doctor prescribe it?

My NP put me on Prometrium which is a micronized form of progesterone. Depo is a syntentic inject. so pretty much similar. Anyhoo. NP said that it was for my way too high levels of estrogen, and while I couldn't argue that (they were way too elevated) I did go ahead and request to be referred to an endocrinologist, just because the Prometrium is addressing a symptom of the bigger problem, not the problem itself, which is totally gorked hormone levels. Incidentally, my acne is worse and I have gained 6 lbs in 2 weeks. I am a thin cyster, but now I am bloated all to heck. I would question it, if for no other reason than there are better ways of getting more progesterone and it should be a cyclical dose, not a forever maintenence thing.
