Unhappy In pain!

Hi all, I'm new to the board My name is Laura and I was first diagnosed with Endometriosis at the age of 17. I had an ovarian cyst the size of a tennis ball (yikes) and had to have it removed through surgery. It's been 5 years since then and I've done okay. My doctor said they were able to catch it early enough before it become severe. I've experienced some pain here and there if I happened to slack off on my BC pills, but once I got back on track with them, the pain usually disappeared. Well, the past week or so I have been experiencing some pretty bad pain and am becoming scared I may have another cyst. My last visit to my gynecologist was back in November of last year and she put me on Loestrin 24. (I had been taking LoOvral 28 in the past) I don't know if this might be the problem, as it doesn't seem to be "doing it's job" and preventing me from having regular periods. My question is, could a cyst that large come on so quickly? I was feeling fine last week. I'm afraid it may be huge again and I'll have to go back into the hospital for another surgery- a terrible experience that I never want to repeat again. I've just been experiencing a dull, achy pain in my abdomen and lower back and I almost know it has to be another cyst. I have an appointment with my gynecologist in 2 weeks, but it's such a long time to wait. :/

Another question, do any of you become extremely bloated when dealing with an ovarian cyst? I've been feeling like my stomach is going to pop lately.
Thanks for any input

I would personally call the doctor and let them know what you are feeling and see if they can order you a TV ultrasound and see what is happening.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on birth control recently. After getting my first period on the birth control I experienced simmilar pain in my stomach I went to my doctor and they did an ultrasound which showed fluid. Apparently I had a cyst that burst and the fluid caused the pain. I would call your doctor and see what they think and what can be done. Better safe than sorry.

Good Luck & Best Wishes!

Hi Laura, I'm new to the board too, I was diagnoised with PCOS about 15 years ago. When I had my daughter (12 years ago) by emergency c. section they removed a double cyst from my right ovary it was about the size of a man's fist. I have been fine since until about 5 weeks ago when I had acute pain on my right side my GP found a lump, after various scans was told it is about 5 inches by 3 inches. So I know abit of what you are going through, I have been told that I have cysts on my other ovary as well and need major surgery which may result in the removal of cysts, ovaries or even hysterectomy!
I agree with Abby you need to see your doctor.

Thanks so much, ladies! I was able to get an earlier appointment with my gynecologist for Wednesday, so hopefully she can "assess the damage" and get me back on track, whatever that may be.

Wightlady13, I am so sorry to hear that! Best wishes to you

Hi Laura8508 & Abby 82

Hope you are both doing ok, just thought I would let you know that I am having a hysterectomy (yes they have made a decision) on 8th May so no more troubles with ovarian cysts, yipee. Gotta have my pre op assessment this Wednesday, I'm sort of ok about the op as I have been lucky and have had 2 children, mind I have the occasional wobble like this morning when I went into work to given them the date of my op and ending up crying!!!

I'm looking forward to recovering from the op in the back garden and going back to work with a suntan british weather permiting!!!

Luv to both
Lynn x

I have unfortunately I had an ultrasound done last week and it appears I have created another large cyst, 6 cm. on my left ovary. (the same ovary I had surgery on before, only that was 9 cm. at the time, so at least this one isn't as bad) So, I have the surgery scheduled for next month. I'm so bummed out, though. We had a family vacation planned for next month to Orlando, Florida and now it looks as if we're going to have to cancel it. My doc said it would be ok if I went ahead, but I just don't know if I can handle all that walking (Walt Disney World, not exactly a place to go with sore ovaries lol) So, I don't know. The weird thing is, I haven't been in that much pain, so I had assumed it was going away. Obviously not.

Thanks for the support Lynn, I hope your surgery was successful!
