Angry Pain in the butt

I recently started having spasms in the left side of my lower back and upper butt. My husband said there is bruising there now. I do not remember hurting it at all. I do not understand because when I sit down for a while that side starts getting really sore and goes numb. I was just curious if anyone else has this problem or knows what it might be.

Maybe cyatica (sorry, I'm not spelling it right), when the nerve that is in your hip and leg gets irritated, you can feel it in your "butt." If that is the problem, I think there are exercises you can do for it, check with your internist.

chikilala is right, it sounds like sciatica. However, I would go over to the doctor about this one because of the bruising. Thats not usually normal for sciatica. Perhaps you hit it and not realized it. I hope you feel better soon, keep us posted!

Heres some info I found on the web...HTH.

Thanks for the sincerity and the advice. I do have an appointment with my gynecologist already on March 15th so I will bring it to her attention. It seems to get worse if I have to sit for awhile. I hope she will have some idea about what it is. I will keep you posted.
