I haven't seen any mention of pain here...though I am brand new to this, so I probably just missed it! Just wondering If anyone else experiences sudden sharp pains. I'm assuming that's do to cysts...though Dr.'s here don't seem to take this seriously. OB/GYN shipped me off to Endo who doesn't seem concerned w/ the reproductive end of it. Havn't had a period for over 4 months, endo says to wait and see if Met helps. Also just trying to deal with side effects of Met. Tummy problems, hunger, dizziness, fatigue. None of this is really new, I kinda always new something was pretty wrong...but this just brings it out and makes me deal now...trying...Hard to deal at work when I'm in pain and running to the bathroom, and trying to eat........
I get sharp sudden pains. Sometimes they are really bad. My doctor said that it could be a cyst rupturing. You'll feel that when it happens! Anyways, I get sharp pains throughout the day.
I get sharp pains off and on but mostly as I get closer to my period. When my cyst ruptured the pain was quite intense and I had a fever and was sweating. The pain lasted a few days. I don't know what other people have experienced with ruptured cysts but for me it was really bad.
I started Met a month ago and the nausea will go away evenutally. Just make sure to take your meds with food because it does help. Also, try to avoid greasy or heavy food. I learned the hard way after eating some chips. Diarrhea(I had gas too) is pretty common but if you avoid greasy foods it helps to avoid the emergency trip to the bathroom!
Check out the medication forum under Metformin. There is lots of helpful information to find there. I used it often when I started taking it.
I'm new here too, and my main frustration with all the medical info I have found is that nobody even mentions how to deal with the pain. I get those sharp sudden pains alot, but I also have a deep, lasting sort of pain almost all the time. The Doc has me taking 800 mg doses of Ibuprofen 3 x daily for it, which helps but how long am I going to need to do that? How long is that healthy? I have read about Clomid and Met and wieght loss as help for this but is any of that going to make the constant pain stop? Let alone the sudden pains? Do I just have to live this way? This is such a scary diagnosis.
Thank you all for your input...sorry it takes me a long time to reply.....I don't know what else to do besides taking ibuprofen and trying to ignore it...Side effects are improving. I've been looking over Met info. Thanks to all...
I get sudden sharp pains a lot and I also have had my doctor tell me that it is probably cysts rupturing. Sometimes they are so intense that I have to crouch over and roll into a ball for them not to hurt. I take Ibuprofen for it, but sometimes it doesn't do anything for me! I wish you the best of luck too!

I had the "classic" met side effects when I started, I found that taking the met right in the middle of the meal helped, and also watching carbs. Also I started at 500 mg daily and worked up to 1500 mg. I do think the met helped some with the chronic ovary pain I was having. (Among many things )
When I have a cyst rupture, for me it's a definitely different pain, very sharp and pulling. I do sometimes take some of my Darvocet for that (I always have Darvocet or something similar at home because I get migraines). It helps me get through that first day that's the most painful when a cyst bursts. After that first day usually Advil or Aleve will help. I remember my general "everyday" ovary pain being worse around the time of my period.
Hope you feel better soon
Hugs
Jenny
