Default PAIN+ Cyst

My doc diagnosed me with PCOS over a week ago and she also told me that I had a large cyst on my left ovary. I had an MRI and blood tests done- no results yet but today the spot where the cyst is started hurting. For a while I was in tears for how much it hurt- after about an hour the pain got easier but it terrified me. I have never felt pain there before and I don't know why all of a sudden it would start to hurt. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think I should be worried?

Yes, the cysts can be very painful. I'm very sorry! Try a heating pad and I always take 600 mg of ibuprofen - but talk to your dr. first to see what he/she recommends. If the pain does not go away or if the cyst gets too large, you can have it removed.

I hope you feel better soon.

I have also had that happen and same thing - really bad pain for one to three days and then nothing. I take ibuprofen, get my blankie and a hot water bottle and suck my thumb. From what I understand unless you are bleeding excessively or if the pain doesn't alleviate, there is not much they can do for you after the fact (rupture). If you are bleeding badly they will need to stanch the blood and maybe prescribe an antibiotic to prevent infection. That said, even when I have bled badly nothing has been done for me. Hang in there!

Unhappy My Heart Goes Out To You

Hey! I am also new here but not new to ovarian cysts. I have had 6 surgries to have them removed b/c they grew so large it was putting me on my knees. It is a horrible pain that only a woman whos had them can understand. I to just lay in the bed, crying and praying for God to take the pain away. Sometimes after my bf and I have sex it triggers the pain and I have to lay still and not move a muscle. It's sad that something that is supposed to feel good hurts....You are not alone sweet cyster.

Thank you for your responses, it made me feel a little better to have some idea of what happened- My dr's office is kind of useless with answering questions (I am going to look into other drs). Her office called me today and said that my MRI and bloodtests are back and they set an appt for next week. This concerns me because I was there like 2 weeks ago and my next appt isn't supposed to be for 4 more weeks. When I asked the woman who called me what the test results were all she kept saying was "that is what the appt is for". So now not only am I scared, I am annoyed. Does anyone have any ideas of what can be seen on an MRI that can't be seen on an ultrasound? Or why they would suddenly start rushing things?

Of course I don't mind, glad to share with you. They had to be removed b/c they grew so large and were filled with blood and water aka:corpus ludium cysts. The pain was unbearable and I coulnd'nt wait for them to bust on their own. Hang in there and I would suggest that you get a trans-vaginal ultra sound, it shows the cysts great.(Trans-vaginal is a long (excuse this pecker looking device that is inserted into your vagina, its uncomfortable but dosent really hurt..anywho, good luck sweetie
