i was just wondering whether the pain with endo sort of all the time or is it worse during your period, can it be only at your period or would you have it at anytime, because i do have a few of the symptoms of endo and while everyso often i get pain in my lower abdomen other than when im on my period i wouldnt say i get it everymonth sort of thing, while i do have very painful and heavy periods (being on bcps didnt help at all), i would say that it was only at this time that the pain is worse.
Would you say its somethin to ask my doctor about or is it just likely that im unlucky and have painful heavy periods
thanks ladies

eizzil - It's different for each woman. The pain can be unpredictable, or it can be cyclical, or a mix. From what I've been noticing, for many women, the pain starts at ovulation and peeks during af - but again, it could come and go at different times. It could seem like it's taking a pattern for a few months, and then become sporadic again, etc. I think you should talk to your doctor if you are concerned over the pain/heaviness of your flow. Best wishes!

I agree.... I think mine was cyclical with the ovulation to the AF, but that was when I wasent taking BCP and I only got my AF 3 times a year. When they put me on seasonique (3 month pill) things went haywire, and im going off it now because of it. I think I know what birth feels like, if so, I may be able to go natural, but i wont enjoy it (I guess is houldnt worry about that until I get preggers).
Anyways, I would DEF consult with your DR, and if they dont do anything about it, talk to another. I had been going from my GYN to my General back and forth until my GP! suggested I might have endo (actually she was covering for my real Dr)---so it can be a kinda game with doctors (ok so I dont trust em). I think Endo is more common then they think---and I have a STRONG feeling its because of the crap they put in out foods.

For me, I had pain during every period, then it got worse and I would have painful ovulation then finally I would bleed in large intervals (6 months) and the pain would start to take over for a whole month. Last year I bled for 10/12 months and was in so much pain the entire time. I know dr's want to "watch" but in my case watching led to just being in more pain and damage to my uterus. I would write everything down on a calendar to see if they can see a pattern.
Also, I want to add I don't think it has to do w/ food at all. I've always had a very healthy diet (very little processed food), but I do have autoimmune problems and Endo is considered autoimmune. So, the cause is unknown. Although it is advisable to have a healthy diet, I wouldn't want people to think they can "prevent" endo from staying away from certain foods....just my soapbox, sorry.

I agree with making a calendar of your pain, but I might add a pain scale for each day, and where the pain is located. (Pain scale, 1-10, 1 the least, 10 worst---10 is so much pain you will pass out --hospitals say anything higher then a 4 or 5 and they give you heavy duty pain meds).
Today I am two days off the BCP that didnt work, and I feel like i got kicked in my appendix again :/ Oh well.

My endo pain was at times cyclical, and other times constant. I only got relief after having a lap and D&C and immediately beginning DepoProvera. That was 10 years ago, though. I went off DepoProvera 3 or 4 years ago when DH and I wanted to begin TTC. It took 1 year and 8 months to get my period back after stopping Depo. I have been on some many dang hormones that I don't know what's normal anymore. Anywho, my PCOS disappeared but unfortunately, endo hasn't. The pain has been pretty unbearable for the last year or so. We are taking a break TTC to treat my endo and lose weight to have a lap and D&C in Dec. 2009 and then begin TTC again soon thereafter. Sorry to write a book here...feels good to get it all out in black and white...Good luck to you!
