Default pain in lower right side of abdomen

Hi, i am on met since about 2 and half months and just last week upped my dose to the full 1700mg. Waiting for met to get my first period. Last period was on March 21 with provera. Since yesterday i am experencing pain in my lower right hand side of abdomen jsut above the pelvic area. BTW..i did have intercourse yesterday evening and i beleive the pain started after that. I do not know if i have large ovaries or cysts. Never had an ultrasound. My Dr had taken some blood tests and diagonised me with PCOS. Could this be ovulation pain? its constant and at the same place. Its not very severe but is a little discomforting. Did anyone else experience this on met? Is this something to worry about? If i am ovulating, has the ovulation already taken place? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Default Pain in the Lower right

Hi Ann,

Yes, I do have the very same pain. It seems to happen when I have intercourse also. Although, I just had my second D & C done a week or two ago. Have you had any surgeries recently? So you were diagnosed by bloodwork alone??? You really need to have an ultrasound if the pain continues. You may have a cyst on your ovary that is huge causing the pain. Also, you only take 2 pills per day of Metaformin? Sounds like you may want to find and endocronolgist that specializes in PCOS. The twice per day medicine induced a period but not ovulation for me. You can have a period without ovulating. I don't want you to think that I am telling you what to do but if you are trying to conceive you may be more effective seeing an endo. I look forward to talking to you and hope to hear back from you!!!!

what you're experiencing might be mittelschmerz (ovulation pain). i had it for the first time during my last cycle -- the pain sounds like what you've described. if it persists, do go see your doctor!

thanks a lot for your replies! the pain is gone now..lasted for about 24 hours. I am hoping it was ovulation pain (mittelschmerz) so that i get my af soon (After 3 months!).
Laura - thanks for your concern. My Dr is good and seems she knows a lot about PCOS. Since i have jsut started TTC i will give met and normal TTC a few months before going into other medications and methods. Also the met is only two pills but 850 Mg each which is 1700 mg per day. Thats a normal dose and not less.
