Question Pain in lower side of stomach, Cysts??

Hello out there.....it has been a while since I was on and I have a question for you......I have been having pain/discomfort in my lower left side of my stomach, it's not in a pin point spot it is in a particular area, about the area between your waist line and where your leg starts....it seems to aggervate the pain if I sit slouched forward upright for long and it seems most mild if I am on my back reclined back a little. I went to the doctor because when I couldn't sleep comfortably on my sides or stomach, I knew something was up.....she did a "culture pap" and urine test, along with feeling and pushing on my stomach and she said that I need to have a transvaginal ultrasound because, being I have been diagnoised with PCOS, I probably have cyst/s......I have the ultrasound on Monday, but what concerns me is, first, the urine I was able to give her was very, very little amount at the time and I worry that the urine results weren't accurate.....secoundly if it is a cyst/s what does that mean, how is it treated? She also said I had a bacterial infection so now I am taking Metrogel-vaginal....she said that could cause discomfort to, is that true to this extent, sometimes I feel they treat me like I am a hypochondriak just because they know I have an anxiety problem as well. I was going to try and exercise today, somthing I hardly do, but really need, and the marching of my legs and the jiggling of my stomach, aggervated the pain, so that was over in secounds....now I took tylenol and decided to come on here and ask you all my questions.....heres the other question, I tried taking Metformin months ago and it made me queezy so I stopped it, and the other day when I went in for this pain problem I asked the doc if gluco brand name xl would be any eaiser on my stomach, she said it may, so I got a script for it, but I am nervous about taking it again and having the same problems.....my main question here is about the pain and possibility of cysts......thanks for listening......

Not sure if i am of any help but i have the same pain on my left side...thats one of the reasons why my dr. started all of the testing that got me diagnosed as pcos...yay!...NOT....LOL
I have had this pain since Oct. My first abd. u/s came back 100% clean and my dr said maybe it was a pulled muscle. But then because i hadn't had a period since i stopped bcp in july (this was dec.) she did bld work. It came back all out of whack and sent me to a obgyn who works with pcos. He did an internal u/s and found lots of those nice cysts all around my overies...when i told him that i was havin that pain he said it couldn't be the cysts as i won't feel them....but i don't really believe him...its still there and only went away for a few days after i o'd for the first time....but its back now....it gets uncomfortable to have anything touch that area, to lay on that side or my stomach.

I am also new to met. and the side effects get better with time. I still have bad days with the great D. but getting better and better. I don't feel nauseated anymore but honestly it took about a month before it got better for me. What dosage did she have you on in the first place?? my dr. was great and did it slowly...i was at 500mg for 2 wks then 1000 for 1 then the obgyn upped it to 1500mg and thats when i got my first bout of side effects.

I have heard great things about the kind your dr. perscribed. I don't think i have heard of any side effects with those ones....

Good luck and i hope they are able to help you!! i know the pain is not nice!! nor is feeling icky from the met!

Hi, thanks for your reply, I tried to quote your message, I hope I did it right.........I am scheduled for a transvaginal ultrasound tommorrow, Monday, which is I think what you were reffering to when you said internal ultrasound. I haven't started the Glucophage XL yet because I am taking Metrogel vaginal for a bacterial infection and then I have to take my provera, because its time again for me to take it to get my period. When I took Metformin months ago it was only for a few days, 500mg once a day....I asked the doc about cutting the dose and she said it would be a waist of pills, what a nin com poop huh....I would rather "waist pills" then feel queezy.....so I guess I am just sensitive to side effects period, I seem to be. I don't know if all cysts cause pain and what the difference is, this is why I was posting here, so I am confused to.....I was thinking about birth control pills, but my doc said glucophage would be better as an all around treatment.....what I didn't ask her is, do you have to take glucophage forever or just to get things in the groove again? I also want to know how do they determine what dose to work up to? Is it based on tolerance or is there a thearaputic dose? Sorry to here about your cysts and pain, I know its no fun, I hope you feel better.....

Yes that is the u/s i was talking about....LOL

was their anyway gravol or imodium would have helped?
I am pretty sure you can take them both at the same time bcp and met (or whatever kind you get perscribed...lol) not sure but you could post that ? in the med folder.

I think the met is a life long thing....not sure tho as i am new to it...altho i have heard of others just taking bcp instead but they still have to deal with the pcos symptoms the met helps with those.

The theraputic dosage is different for different people. I am ttcing so i need to ovulate on my own so i am on 1500mg and have been for 2.5 months and i FINALLY o'd on my own for the first time....LOL I have heard of ppl being on higher dosages tho....from my understanding 1500mg is the low end of theraputic for pcos....but i am not sure if thats for ttcing or for pcos symptoms

I have become acustomed by the every day dull ache i have...its when i think they pop and i get sharp intense stabbing pains that i am not acustomed to yet...haha

Is there anyway you can be refered to a different dr. it really doesn't sound like yours is helping very much 8o(

    Good luck tommorwo!!!

    Hi Eva,

I have the same pains as you describe. I have been feeling it constantly for about a 1/2 year now and it seems to be getting worse, especially when I go for my morning run. It has been bothering me so bad lately that I haven't been running for about 2 weeks. I had an ultrasound today but the doctor said she couldn;t see anything. I am going back to my doctor now and going to ask for a full blood test. I think i have pcos, i have mnay of the symptoms. You should get checked out to.

I heard that the pain is caused by the inflamation of the Ovaries, and often the pain comes form the cysts that are rupturing. I have constant paid too.. And it gets worse when I exercise aswell. Guess its just one of those many things we have to learn to live with.
