For the past 2 years I have had a twinge of pain in my right breast every once in a while. Only sice I have come off the pill and been diagnosed with PCOS (in the last 8 months), I have been noticing the pain getting worse and lasting longer. Yesterday morning I discovered a lump!! I am a little nervous since my aunt was just dx with breast cancer, but I have also heard that hormone imbalances can cause 'fibroids' in your breasts. Anyone else deal with this or heard of this? What were your experiences? TIA!

Hi Stacey

I have problems with getting fibroid cysts in my breasts, some of them are fluid filled, and I have had a few drained, and tested- Everything was fine... my endo said that the increased/changes in the level of hormones can cause these cysts to develop.

Mine started when I went off of the pill for about 2 months, and started back up on a different one.(I have breast cancer in my family to, so I wanted to get them checked just to make sure.)
I found that heat helped it if it hurts.... (not too hot) I would hurt so bad, that I couldn't even wear a bra...

I am going through this very thing right now. Last friday my breast started hurting and it has only gotten worse. It even wakes me up at night. I have been to the doctor, and had a sonogram done, but I just want the pain to go away

I sometimes have shooting or steady pains in my breasts too. I also have the fibroids in my breasts which feel to me more like ridges than lumps but my mom has them also (and they are genetic). I am only 25 so I don't really worry about cancer but do make sure my OBGYN examines them once a year just to be sure. I think most women have pain from time to time in their breasts (I have actually heard that usually if you have pain, that means its NOT cancer) but I would definitely have the lump checked out....just for your own peace of mind and well-being.
