Just wondering if anyone else gets sharp pains in their pelvic area that lasts about twenty mins? I've only got it a few times in the past few months. From what I've read if a cyst ruptured i'd have pain that lasts longer than that, and I would have to go to hospital. But its not like period pains, its a lot sharper and very painful. Do you think its to do with pcos?
Hello
I had been having bad pelvic pain since stopping the BCP. I went to a new dr, b/c my old dr didnt pay much attention to my complaints. After a vaginal ultrasound by the new DR (he's an ob/gyn & also a fertility specialist) he found that I have a pelvic mass, which may be endometriosis. He also found that one of my ovaries is stuck behind my uterus. I had a c-section 2 1/2 yrs ago...so it may be scar adhesions, or endo....I have a Laparoscopy scheduled for the 13th of June.
My advice is don't ignore unusual pain. Ask a dr & get a new one if needed. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, will be talking to my doc about it. Thought I was just over-reacting, cos I'm new to all this pcos stuff, but its nice to get opinions from people.
A couple months ago, I had something very similar. It started 1 1/2 before AF showed, at the time I had no idea AF was on the way, but It started with shooting/stabbing pains that would make me wanna scream & cry, they were so bad I almost went to hospital. If I moved to suddenly they would start or even just sitting, out of nowhere I would end up bending over in pain. 1 1/2 weeks later AF showed, & it was such a nightmare, OMG, I am not gonna give you any more details, believe me, you don't wanna know. Anyways, the next month I also had the same sorta pains & symptoms, but not as bad as the 1st month & Af showed again 1 week later.
I never went to the doc, But I really should have...I just figured it was a cyst or my body trying to function normal.
I haven't had them since, but If I were u, I would go to the doc & have an ultrasound if it persists.
G/L!

I started having the sharp pain like you described around X-mas 2005 and after 3 mos they started happening weekly. Sharp, sudden pain where I couldn't even walk! It was usually accompanied with lots of very red blood, but not a period, b/c I was bleeding constantly anyways (I'm convinced I never really had a period...).
Definitely get it checked out. I'm a little ticked the dr just put me on BC to help with the symptom, but maybe there's no way to determine the cause of the pain and bleeding....
Please Dont Ignore The Symptoms. I Have Had Shooting Pains In My Lower Left Stomach For About Two Months Now And Have A Laproscopic Procedure Scheduled For The 19th. Ignoring The Symptoms Could Lead To Something Else - Especially Trying To Concieve. I Would Like To Thank Everyone For All Of Your Help And Advice - I May Not Post Much But I Read Alot!!!!
