Default Painful ovulation

When I ovulate (if I ovulate), I have a lot of lower abdominal pain. My ovaries hurt, my tummy aches and it hurts to go to the bathroom. Sometimes it hurts to sit down. Sometimes I have to lie stíll for a few hours until it goes away. My periods, on the other hand, are almost not painful at all. What is that about? Does anyone else feel that way when they ovulate?

Oh thank goodness, I'm not the only one. Mine is usually pain, like stabbing pain and only on one side. It's not constant, usually intermittent throughout just one day then it's gone. Some women don't experience anything, some mild and some as bad as yours. There has to be a way to alleviate your pain!!

i have the same thing when i ovulate, i can tell which side i O from as my ovary aches and lasts for a few days. i sometimes get it from both sides. My periods are always painful sometimes they are so bad i have to lay in bed all day with hot water bottle and my naprogesic just numbs the pain enough to be able to do some light duties throughout the day.

Me too! About mid cycle I get stabbing pain from my ovaries. I get cysts real bad and that has to be it. I am on birth contol so I don't think I O while I am on that. The cysts make it almost impossible to O anyways. I spend a lot of time lying down because of the pain. You are not alone on this one!

OMG...Now I know what you ladies mean. I have had not too bad pain ...just a little for the last few days....I assumed that it was ovulation pain as I got 3 high days in a row on my fertility monitor. Today I woke up and got a "peak" fertility reading and boy did I know that this was OVULATION FOR SURE. All day I have been in pain. Very uncomfortable. Bloated aching stomach and pains in my ovaries and pain while bd'ing.....ouch! I am just so happy to feel my body working and thanks for the thread. I though I was going crazy!!!

OMG! I thought I was the only one! I get a terrible stabbing pain in my right ovary now and again. I used to get it when I was on met and when I stopped taking it the pain went away. Now I'm on Avandia and I have been getting it again, it must be doing what it's supposed to!

I know how you all feel, it hurts like hell!

yeah hunny. I have had to lay down several times today due to the pain. It is wierd now, it is comind and going....so I am hoping it is on it's way out!! I hope I get a temp spike in the morning when I wake up and then I will know for sure that I was o'ing today. I know some people have several days of pain and as soon as it is gone they know that O has allready happened. My poor dh needs a break. we have bd'd every day since cd10 and I am on cd 19 right now. lol i didn't know I would ovulate so late or we wouldn't have done it that much....we both need a break!! don't get me wrong, it was nice for the first 5 days in a row....but sometimes you just don't feel like it.

to top it off....today is my most fertile day and of course due to the pain I didn't really want to bd and when we did it hurt. I just had to think about the outcome and say "no pain, no gain" LOL

I always thought that ovulation was something that happened fairly quickly...??? I have felt a sort of stabbing pain on either side and thought "That was it!"

lucky you. I have been in "bad" pain all day! I heard another cyster say that at ovulation a cyst can rupture and be really painful. All new to me since this is the first time I have ever O'd.

Oh thank God! I thought I was the only one! I get these pains that can cause me to double over and I have to go and lie down because I can't stand up. It sucks because one day it'll be my right side and the next it will be my left. It is so painful but like jdreams I am thankful because it means they're doing their job!

Thank you for all your replies ladies! I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I had started to suspect that there was something seriously wrong with me. I mean, that's when you're at the peak of your fertility and I hurt so much I can hardly move, let alone make a baby!
