Default Pains in the groin area (long)

Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted. But I have yet another problem that I'd like to get some opinions on....

Let me back up here a minute....so back in March they took me off of birth control because they were concerned that I had a blood clot...however, everything was fine. I went back a month later to see if they would try another type of birth control, but my doctor told me at this time that he didn't feel that I was a good candidate for it. So I've been off the pill for about 3 months.

April came along and I got my period like normal. However, for this month, I was supposed to get it on 5/4/06. I started spotting a bit like normal and then it totally stopped on 5/6/06. Since then, I've been having these shooting pains that start right around the area where my left ovary would be and it shoots down to my groin area.

All last week, I was lifting and carrying around heavy boxes at work. However, this doesn't feel like a pulled muscle or anything like that. Even if it was a pulled muscle, I don't think it would have any affect on my period not coming.

Prior to being on birth control, I never got periods. Now that I'm off of them, i'm wondering if my body is returning back to how it was before being on birth control.

I am going to call my doctor this Wednesday when I'm off work, but I wanted to get some advice from all of you.

Also, I've been on Metformin 250mg a day for about 2 1/2 years. During that time, I was on birth control pills as well and had no problem getting the period each month. I'm wondering because of this if he will increase the dosage now?

But what about this pain? So very strange. Any similarities, advice?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Terri

Default Is there any chance you are PG?

Your symptoms sound exactly like mine if there is any chance you are PG get to the doctor ASAP. I went off birthcontrol and started Metformin, I had some spotting bleeding then it stopped all together. I started have pain exactly like you discribed and ignored it for months. It turned out I had a Tubal Pregnancy that did not rupture or pass on its own. Finally the pain got so bad I thought I was going to die, I went to the emergency room and they said it was a cycst. The PCOS can cloud so many symptoms especially when you do not have a regular cycle. Don't take chances go see the Dr.

Default maybe...or maybe not..

I have those symptoms but I have never been pregnant..in fact that's one of the reasons I saw my gyno and had an utltrasound where he found out I had pcos. My gyno is a fertility specialist and he says all woman with pcos have different seems..no two cases are exactly the same.

So this could just be part of your pcos or maybe you are pregnant..you might want to find out..

Thanks for the responses! I talked to my doctor and she said that it's most likely due to a cyst. The pain has subsided though. Normally, I would feel the pain for about 2 days before my period, this month though, I didn't get my period and it lingered.

She suggested for me to take a pregnancy test which I did. It came back negative. I have to call her again on tuesday and I believe at that time they will increase my metformin.
