hey im new here but thought what i know might help u a lil
i used to be a cutter, tho i havent done it for quite some months now, i found food instead, which i cant really say is better. anyway i did it on my legs and after a while the scars really seem to fade by themselves, but when they are knew they have a birhgt redish purple colour, and it often worsens, i found after a warm shower. anyway i tried palmers scar serum, the main thing that stopped me from using it was the smell, it was somewhat unappealing. and knowing it had liver in it (sharks liver) kinda grossed me out. anyway what i have found to be very effective is vitamin E oil. its easy and realativly inexpensive. i got the soft capsle form and just opened them up and put them straight on the scars as soon as they had closed over. twice a day (its important to do it regularlly) for one hundred days (scars heal at 1% per day) works really well. tho it is important to get the scars when they are new because after they have finished healing it is very hard to make them fade. i found that vitamin e oil worked so well for me, i had two very deep cuts that looked absolutly hideous. i thought they were going to heal and rise up and be all purple but now they are much more subtle and look a bit like faded stretch marks.
hope that could be of some help to u. best of luck and take care

I use to be a cutter to....somewhat of a carver. I mostly had surface cuts nothing deep but they left horrible scars all over my leg. They are fading just not as fast I would like them....I find herbal stuff works.I'm a bit of a freak and insit if using all natural products...like Burts Bees I love those products it's nice when I read a label and can understand what is in the product. But like Loz said I would use the herbal crap
