Question Pamie

Hey everyone! Im Pamie, 18 years old from the UK. I was diagnosed with PCOS in January this year. It came as a bit of a shock because I have never had any health problems before. I have been reading a lot about PCOS on the internet and today I came across this site which I think is a really good way to interact with others who are in the same boat as you! And can I add, I love the name Soulcysters !

Ok so here goes my first question!

Do the cystes on our ovaries ever heal or go away or do they just stay their waiting for the next cyst. The reason I ask this is because if the cystes dont heal then eventually the ovaries will be totally covered and that cant be healthy...can it?

Hi and welcome to soulcysters!!!

Well, I dont think that the cysts ever heal because as far as I know there is no cure for PCOS. However, it is treatable!! With diet, exercise, and meds, your symptoms can sometimes go down to hardly anything at all.

My ovaries are COVERED! I have many many cysts. It all deals with hormones mainly insulin! The absolute best advice that I can give you is to research, research, research! That's what I did. Stay educated and focused on your health. I still research all the time. This is an excellent place to get some answers to some difficult questions.

"This disorder is characterized by changes to the ovaries such that multiple follicles accumulate in the ovaries without ovulation."

I think they do go away, but they keep replenishing themselves.
