Hi all - this week i was diagnosed with PCOS! I cried and cried. But then a good friend pointed out to me that it is actually a positive thing as it would explain my excessive weight gain and my panic attacks and depression. At lease I have an answer!
So.. I am still very much in the learning process and wonder if any of you guys have had hormone replacement therapy or any similar treatment which has rid you of depression and panic attacks. I am not even sure if there is any treatment apart from anti-depressants (which I am already on) can anyone shed some light?

I know exactly how you feel. I have been suffering from depression and panic disorder since 1997. I have tried almost everything. Currently what seems to be working for me is Effexor EX and BuSpar together. Also, I'm seeing a behavioral therapist that is really helpful in teaching you methods to keep panic attacks and negative thinking at bay. If you ever want to talk, feel free to email me!
Low progesterone and DHEA-S can cause depression, and high estrogen can cause anxiety. If you can get your hormones under control, your mood should improve. Easier said than done, I know :p I was on antidepressants for a year but they never really took away my depression because my hormones were still messed up. They did help with my anxiety, not by getting to the route of the problem but by making me so sedated that I couldn't worry about anything. I found the side effects from ADs worse than the anxiety.

Hi Minx. I wanted to welcome you to the board. I don't have a lot of info for you that you haven't already been given. I do believe your hormonal unbalance can cause havoc. Work with your Dr. to get both balanced. Don't give up until you feel well again. Different meds may help, too. Lendi
