So, I found out I m/ced about 2 months ago via an ultrasound that I was having at my so-called 8 week point only to reveal that the embryo had stopped developing at 6 weeks. A week later the doc put some pills in me that induced a period. My beta started to drop but excurtiatingly slowly. Here are my betas: Pre-bleeding: 38000 10 days after bleeding started: 6000 4 weeks after bleeding started: 1100 6 weeks after bleeding started: 290 8 and a half weeks after bleeding my beta is "a hundred or so" according to the nurse. They have been testing it everyother week and she said the doc wants it tested on Monday, which is 4 days after my last test. I've been afraid to ask her about it because I've reading about partial molar pregnancies and was afraid that is what it is and that I would have to wait even longer (like 3 or 6 months after beta is 0) to TTC again. Does anyone have experience with such a slow falling beta?? Most of the stuff I've read about molar and partial molars the beta started out way higher than mine, but I've just wondering why the hell it is falling so damn slow. Any input would be so awsome.
Unfortunately some betas just keep holding on for no known reason. I hope there is nothing serious in your case! I am so sorry for your loss, and I wish you a much faster recovery than what seems to be happening. It shouldn't take long to go down to zero from a hundred or so, but everyone's body has its own schedule. I've heard lots of different timelines around here. I would assume you would be able to TTC as soon as your beta is in that <5 range, which would be soon at the rate you are going. (((Hugs)))

If you had had a molar pregnancy they should have been able to tell via ultrasound. As far as I know they are VERY distinctive and they will tell you because it is dangerouns to get pregnant again too soon. (Well, for one of the moles... it can turn cancerous and they don't want you to get pregnant because pregnancy would hide a cancer diagnosis and/or affect the treatment- something like that)
With my last miscarriage, my betas were extremely slow to fall. I was about 8 weeks when the heart stopped. I forget what my betas were at that time but I hoped to try again in a few weeks... nope. Seems they can take a week to drop in HALF - despite doubling every 48 hours on the way up. Life can be CRUEL... I seem to think that 2 months later my levels were still around 100...
Falling slow is irritating when you are chomping at the bit to try again but it doesn't mean anything is seriously wrong.

Thank you ladies for the words of encouragment. i know a molar pregnancy looks like a batch of grapes on the ultrasound, but with a partial molar an embryo can start to develop. We saw a heartbeat at the 6 week u/s so it definatly wasn't a molar. I don't think it was a partial molar really, I'm just trying to figure out why the heck it's going to so freakin slow.
Runnerduck - You're so right life can be CRUEL. It was dropping by half every week, but now it's somewhere between a week and a half to 2. I'm in the Air Force Reserve and I'm going to do 2 weeks of duty at the end of January in South Carolina. I just KNOW when I finally ovulate it will be then I'm away from DH. I guess I'll just have to wait until the cycle after that.
Renee my condolences for your loss. I hope your betas drop all the way down soon and you can try again.

My beta has still been falling very very slowly. My beta today was 76. My cat walked across my abdomen and I got a shooting pain. I called the doctor's office and asked if they could do an ultrasound. They had me come in and ya wouldn't believe it but the sac was STILL in there! I'm just like WTF!?! It stopped developing at the beginning of October. No wonder my stupid beta is falling so slow. On top of it DH is leaving today go to New Jersey to do 60 days of military duty. So when they finally got their thumbs out of there @$$es and did an ultrasound and I might actually ovulate again DH will be gone. I just wish they had done this a month ago. They are going to give me some shot on Monday to help disolve it. I am beyond pissed off.
