Default PCOD/PCOS: too many self-titled doctors

I was diagnosed with PCOS in July 2008. I read up on it and tried metformin/bc but it upset my stomach too much. Turns out my Gall Bladder was needing to come out but once that happened, I dropped some weight which seemed to regulate things better than the meds. Now, of course, I have put the weight back on and starting to see more symptoms again. This has brought it all back up to the front of my mind, leading me hear. I have heard both ways on this: some say PCOS and PCOD are the same and that it was changed to PCOS because "disease" sounded to "harsh", others say they are two different things. I know what I think but am curious to see what others on this site think. Any input is appreciated!

I've heard that they are the exact same thing... that's what my doc said. She called it the same thing when we sat down. Sometimes she would say PCOS or PCOD. I don't like it being called PCOD... makes me feel like I'm a lepper! "Oh no kids... stay away from her... she has PCOD." Like I'm contagious.

Hahaha! Me too! Glad to know I'm not the only one who hates feeling "diseased".
