Hi,
I am new here and was hoping you could lend some insite. essentially I am not sure I have pcos, i"ll give you background:
I am a 26 year old slightly aprox 20 pounds over weight and in february I realized that the last period I remember having was either December or November, so I started to worry that I was pregnant. I have never kept track of my cycle because I often skipped months and would get worried. After a negative pregnancy test I decided to relax and wait. At the end of february I had a light period for 2 days (very unusual I typically go 5-9 days). Then nothing so the first week of April I went to an obgyn. She asked me peliminary questions and discovered that I had gestational diabetes 6 years ago and that 3 of my aunts on my mothers side have pcos. She did a pregnancy test and a pap smear and declared that I have pcos and to come see her in june, If I have not had my period she'll send me for "all sorts of tests" and induce my period. She asked me if I wanted birth control but said that it is unlikely that I will get pregnant.
After leaving the office I went home and researched pcos and discovered that i do have some symptoms (fuzzy upper lip

, irregularity, gestational diabetes, bloating) but I feel leary since she didn't do any tests to be sure. I am also reading other people's stories on this site and see that alot of them, once diagnosed are immediatly recommended some sort of meds and tests. so???? I am confused. Do I really have it, if so shouldn't my obgyn be more concrened?
Also I have been having pains on my left side where I assume my ovary is ...is this normal?
Any insite is welcomed, thanks for reading my lonnnnnggggg question!
