Default PCOS after Hysterectomy?

In January of 2005 I had a total hysterectomy. Unfortunately, they also found cancer in my ovary. I will be going for another surgery on Tues to remove appendix, remaining ovary, omentum and whatever else they need to remove. Thankfully the dr feels it is stage 1.

My question is this: will I still have PCO? do I still see an endocronologist? I was on gluco but endo took me off it. Haven't seen her since before my surgery. I am changing endo and my new appt is in May. I am worried about my IR. With my ovaries and reproductive organs gone, how will PCO affect me?

Has anyone else been in this situation?

My situation is a little different - I had a hysterectomy, but kept my ovaries. However, I'm in my late 40's, so I'm guessing they're not doing as much as they used to (though I'm not experiencing any menopausal symptoms).

What's changed re. PCOS since the hyst.?
- no periods, obviously.
- even though I've still got my ovaries, I no longer have crazy mood swings.
- unwelcome hair growth has slowed, but not stopped.

What hasn't changed?
- still IR.
- still battle with weight gain/loss issues.
- blood pressure.

I still see an endocrinologist, and expect to keep doing so pretty much forever.

Some docs do think a hysterectomy is the answer to curing PCOS, but often it does cause more problems. I would assume you would need to be treated for IR after the surgery (if you have IR). I would defintly ask the doc what his plans are for your treatment of IR or to help prevent diabetes after the surgery.
