Default PCOS ... Aldactone ... Glucphoage ... Clomid ... OMG .. im so confused!!

Hello everyone ... I am Sarah

I am 26 now but was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 21 ... My doctor at the time said that there was nothing really that could be done for me since I wasnt trying to get pregnant except to take provera every couple of months so that I would have a period. Well now I am trying to get pregnant, I started out with taking provera so that I would have a period (I havent had one in about two years), it worked so today is my first day to take Clomid. I am nervous about it. I have read some good and some bad on the internet so im hoping for the best. My doctor also had me on glucophage and aldactone, well I stopped taking the aldactone because I dont have excess hair which is what that is supposedly for or so im told so now im taking clomid and glucophage ... this is all very confusing to me.

Can anyone tell me what I should or should not do or expect from taking these two medications? Also ... will Clomid make me have a period next month or would I need to take Provera again? Im afraid of that cause what if I get pregnant then start to take the Provera ... it would cause me to miscarry wouldnt it?

Im hoping that all of you "experienced" women out there can help ... I need it desperately!!

Thanks so much !!!

Welcome to soulcysters... I am currently taking Met(aka glucophage) and when you first start on it you can get diarrhea so don't eat anything greasy or sugary cause that can cause you to go. It will get better as the weeks go by and as your body gets used to it so don't worry too much.

Hi Sarah and Welcome!

Firstly I don't know the answer to your Q but I'm sure someone will pitch in soon. I did want to let you know that you should never take Aldactone (aka Spironolactone) when you are TTC (trying to conceive) as it can cause genital abnormalities in baby boys. I know you said you have stopped it as you don't suffer with excess hair but I thought I should point this out just in case. Btw Glucophage (aka Metformin) is safe to take when you are ttc and some people have also taken it successfully during their first trimester too.

Good luck with ttc and I hope someone can answer your Q soon

Nikki x
