Sorry, this might be a bit long, I've only just joined and got a lot to get off my chest!
Basically, I'm now 25 years old, have never had regular periods in my life, suffered from hirsuitism, my skin wasn't great, and I went to my GP saying I thought I had PCOS when I was about........21 or so, in my fourth year of medical school. At that point I hadn't had a period for 6 months. Anyway, he arranged some blood tests which he said were "relatively normal" and arranged an ultrasound (transabdominal only) where they said my ovaries were normal sized. But because I hadn't had a period in 6 months, I was started on Microgynon 30. After about a year or so I asked to change onto Dianette, which he was happy to do, and I've been on that now for about 3 years.
Anyway, since about 3 years ago I've been having chronic right sided pelvic pain, just over a year ago they thought it was appendicitis and took out my appendix, which turned out to be normal, but there was lots of blood stained fluid in my abdomen and they thought I had probably ruptured an ovarian cyst. Two months later I had the same pain, was admitted to hospital again and had a laparoscopy, which confirmed that I do have polycystic ovaries.
Still get the pain intermittently, no-one knows what's causing it, I was admitted again last week overnight because the pain was so bad, but dismissed completely by the surgeon who saw me the following day. But when I was admitted, they got me seen by gynae who arranged another ultrasound, this time internal, and again they confirmed that although my ovaries are normal sized, they are definitely polycystic.
But that's twice now it's been confirmed, and no-one has arranged any follow up of any kind. I'm not trying to conceive at the minute, so I don't need a gynae referral, but I'm planning on seeing my GP and asking him to refer me to an endocrinologist because of the risk of insulin resistance and diabetes.
Has anyone here seen an endocrinologist, and if so, what have they done for you? And does anyone else suffer from unexplained pelvic pain? I know gynaecologists all insist that PCOS doesn't cause pain, but I'm sure this pain is coming from my ovary.
Firstly welcome u will love the support here

I have been ambulanced with the pain before and given gas and air in the ambualnce and then morphine at hospital. And my drs believe its pain from the ovarys be persistant with ur drs.
