Question PCOS complications

I have had PCOS since 11/04. I took metformin until I discovered it to be the root of all evil; meaning my sever head pain...11/04-8/05

I began having regular monthly or bi monthly cysts, every 3 or so would eventually burst. (Docs say it is the same pain as bursting appendix) I had to take the nuva rings 2 at a time to keep them away. It has been successful so far since I doubled it.

I was fine for a while up until recently. I quit smoking 8/30/07, then at my yearly 10/31 they discovered my blood pressure to be high. she ordered blood work and had me track my blood pressure. Well it remained high. I am now on lisinopril and the blood pressure is down. the blood work came back and it shows me to have bad cholesterol, and a hairs breath away from diabetes.

She took away my BC and told me DEPO is my only option. And p.s. loose some weight.

I don't want DEPO, I don't want the cysts, but desperately want children eventually. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry for the long post, I am new and finally reaching out now that I am falling apart...

Thanks,
Alicia

alicia, you seem to have a bit of an involved medical history. i don't have any specific medication suggestion because i really can't address that without all of the information in front of me. how high is your bp? i would think (and i could be totally wrong here) that once your bp is under control, you could be able to take the pill. have you consulted an endocrinologist or at least another ob/gyn to see what their take on the situation might be?

i wish i had more specific advice for you. pcos is a very frustrating diagnosis; and it may take some time to get your symtoms regulated. be patient and feel free to post/pm me if you need to talk.

Welcome to SC!
If you cannot take Met, have you tried Cinnamon and vinegar? You can check the alternative remedies board for info on both those.

Personally, I would avoid Depo, as I've heard bad things about it. A change in diet often works for cysters for many symptoms. I had to go on a modified lower carb diet. I'm also on Cinnamon and metformin and Spiro.
