Hey girls!!!
I was just wondering how you Teens feel about dating and PCOS?
Im completely hopeless and I basically put it mostly down to the dreaded PCOS! I dont let myself get too close to guys because I am so embarrassed about my weight and all the PCOS extras, but especially the HAIR!!!
PLEASE PLEASE help or share your tips LOL!!!
Thanks
I think that having PCOS and dating is very interesting. There are alot of mixed feeling about it. I personally have told my ex about it and he told me that he didnt care and it didnt matter because he loved me anyway. The guy that I am dating now seems to be ok with it. We are both really honest with eachother and I dont feel uncomfortable about talking to him about it. When it comes to dating and PCOS I think that its all about comfort and when you as a cyster feel good enough to tell someone you like about it. It depends on how they take it but I dont think anyone should feel bad about themselves because they have PCOS.

cmj, I know exactly how you feel. PCOS has caused me to be overweight and have some hair problems, but the right guy won't mind that.
I met my bf off of the internet and made sure he knew ASAP about my PCOS, its better to get it out there right away. You don't have to tell him about the hair, just keep waxing or plucking it. As for the weight, most guys don't mind some junk.
Just be yourself and you can find mr right.
I'll let you know when I *can* find a date rofl :T

Aawww Sunset I know how you feel. For years I felt like no guy would date me, probably cause it was true! :| I did not take care of myself at all.
Internet is a great alternative to finding real partners and dates. I didn't put up a pic and then those who choose to contact you aren't so absorbed with physical appearances.
I am not a "teen" anymore but I am still young enough to relate and encourage you ladies. When I was under the age of 16 I had never dated a guy mainly because I was young but also because I was more "tomboy". Anyways to make a long story short I finally have had a "SERIOUS" relationship and my boyfriend (at the time) didn't care about my facial hair nor my weight. I want to encourage you all and tell you all that you have to LOVE and accept yourself FIRST before anyone else will. Be proud of who you are and what you look like. The men will come eventually. I promise you!!!

I have no problem getting close to guys, but guys don't really get close to me, haha. As Sunset said, I, too, cannot get a date.

at first it was really hard to tell my current boy friend about my pcos. He has been so supportive of me and actually knows more about pcos then my whole family does put together. He really loves me and supports me. We are very honest and close to each other so we discuss pcos alot. We try to make it not effect our relationship but sometimes when I'm sick and can't go out it's hard. PCOS is hard to have and if you find someone you really love they should love you for you and not see only your pcos
I don't have a boyfriend and that's because I don't want to settle. I'd rather wait around for something I deserve then go find a boyfriend just to say I have one. But if I had one I don't think I would bring up my PCOS. I would wait until I was in a pretty serious relationship. Just my opinion.
I don't think PCOS should matter in a relationship. I've yet to have a "real" boyfriend and I'm twenty! When I was younger I wanted so desperatly to have one just to fit in and be like my friends who had always had BF's since hmm...Jr. High! But now that I'm older I just accept that I haven't found someone yet and I enjoy being single and getting to be completely selfish and not have to concider another person's feelings or concerns. I guess If I really wanted a BF I could settle for any guy that'd take me...but I think that's a waste of time. I know a lot of guys might not find me attractive, but I'm not looking for a lot of guys, just one special one to have a meaningfull realationship with! As far as telling a BF about the PCOS, I don't know that I would unless we got really serious. I wouldn't be hiding it from him but unless your trying to concieve, which I hope none of the girls on this board are, then it's really not something that HAS to be told.
I've been with Matt for almost 2 years, and he really doesn't mind my PCOS. He's taken the time to read about it online so he can try to understand what's going on. I think part of why he's so accepting is because we've been best friends for years and we've always tried to help solve each other's problems. To me, it shouldn't really matter in a relationship. If it's a serious relationship, it should be about the person, not the person's problems.
