I too have thinning hair and I hate it.
Many women have had sucess in regrowing hair on Metformin so I hope that it helps you.
It requires patience and alot of it but it has worked for me in the past and I hope that I can get it to work for me again as well.I see my doctor tomorrow and I am hoping to get back on Metformin myself.
I am not good with the whole link thing but there is a forum here on hair issues.
WELCOME to SC!
Good Luck! |

I have thinning hair too, on top and in the front. For that I found met and bcp helped slow the fallout considerably. I hope it helps you a lot.
Your fatigue: A couple things I thought of when I was reading about your naps, first, when my depression is at its worst I tend to nap a lot, also, blood sugar problems can make you tired. (As well as many other things, but those were the two I thought of first).
:Hugs cyster:
We are here for you

My hair is VERY thick and comes out when I wash it but only a couple of strands at a time. I did ask my hair dresser about it and she said that it is normal for you to loose some hair as long as it isn't in big handfuls at a time. Good luck dear! and welcome to sc!!!

Points: 300.06 Bank: 51.00 Total Points: 351.06 | I too was diagnosed with depression (probably close to 7 years ago) before I was diagnosed w/ PCOS, but I only started taking medication for the depression about 2 years ago. Well, I thought things were going smoothly, then I had a bad falling out with my boss. She was so awful to me, and I began to detach myself from my life. My husband & I purchased our very first home, and I should've been happy, but somehow, I knew I had a problem. I read back over my journals, and I keep saying how tired and pissed off and depressed I was. Then in November of last year, I tried to commit suicide. My doctor really helped me and put me on Lexapro and Wellbutrin XL and then upped the doses. She said I could stay outpatient just as long as I took time off from work to give the meds time to do their "magic". It took me probably 2 full months before I really felt better. I ended up w/ mono and the flu at the same time, so I slept about 16 hours/day. After that, my husband & I decided that I should quit my job b/c my health was more important. So I sent my son to school and I'd nap most of the day. The pills DID help a lot, but what really helped me was to take the focus off of myself. I started babysitting for my newborn niece, and even though I thought I'd be really upset because I've been infertile for the last 7 years, she was a joy to be around. I loved every moment. I treated her like she was my own- and even better- I didn't have to deal w/ her in the middle of the night!
My point to my little life story is this...don't let the depression take ahold of you. Ask for help. If your meds aren't strong enough, ask for different ones or stronger doses. If you can't think straight and you wanna die...tell a friend or family member. Ask them to go to the doctor with you. The worst thing you can do is to not do anything at all. I asked my mom to just go w/ me to my doctor's appointment b/c I didn't know why I was so emotional. Taking this step saved my life. My mom knew how important it was - so even though she just got off working midnights, she skipped sleeping and went w/ me. It was heartbreaking to hear me answer the doctor when she asked if I had thoughts of hurting myself, but I had to come clean. I was too tired to lie anymore, and I just wanted to feel better.
PCOS does some really crazy stuff to your body. I didn't realize how much it changed my life. I didn't think too much of the cysts bursting- I guess I thought it was weird, but all the other stuff that came along with it was totally unexpected. My hair didn't fall out, but my husband did have alopecia-very similiar condition- and he used Noxin for his hair. They have a whole line of products for thin or thinning hair.
If you ever wanna talk, send me a note. I read your post and was heart broken for you. micaela_9@hotmail.com |

You probably should talk to your doctor about this. If he isn't helpful, find a new one! There are some very insightful posts here.
Do you mind if I ask where in Ohio you are? I'm in Lorain. Seems there are quite a few people on here from Ohio!! |

My Mood: Points: 707.16 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 707.16 | Stay as positive as you can. I have been on effexor for depression for 5 years and there are days when even having a shower is too much to deal with. I have just recently been in a "low". I didn't leave the house for 3 weeks and only slept and ate. I think I only bathed like 4 times in almost a month ... I just didn't care anymore. Its really hard to deal with. But I am determined to pull myself out of it ... and you will too.
