Talking PCOS-Diet Therapy

Hey Everyone,

I have an upcoming seminar on PCOS in my college. I would appreciate if u could contribute some information on diet therapy and PCOS. Anyone who has achieved success with diet therapy, i would really love to know what kind of diet were u on.

I am also working on this questionairre for Dietary counselling for PCOS women. I am confused. I need some help with this too.

Thank you.

I haven't achieved a great amount of success yet, but I can tell you that the Insulin Resistance Diet book is worth checking out. On that diet, I have lost 12 lbs (45 more to go), and the dryness on the sides of my boobs is gone (It used to be really bad, flaky and itchy all the time, even lotion wouldn't help), and I"m no longer tired in the afternoons, or starving right before bed. (I used to be exhuasted from 12-5, and every evening at 11 like clockwork, I would be starving.) Those are classic symptoms of IR.

I am on a no flour and no dairy diet. I have lost 24lbs in about 4 months.
I am still needing to lose about 150lbs more. I am insulin res., and TCC. I do accupuncture and am eating low calories and low fat. I eat about 1200 to 1500 calories a day and about 20-30 grams of fat. I am also drinking water. I have found that this is easy for me. I miss milk, but I drink soy milk sometimes.

I am on a moderate carb diet given to me by a dietician.
It is similar to IR or diabetic diets. I have 6 small meals a day. Try to eat less carbs and more protein. I keep away from dairy and refined complex carbs (not completely) and sugar (completely). I did lose weight, even though I am a thin cyster, so I allow myself slightly more fat than the usual diets.
I started this diet along with accupuncture and Chinese herbs. 2 weeks after going on the diet I ovulated for the 1st time. I have since stopped the accupuncture, but continued my diet. My hormonal panal came back normal, and I have normal cycles as well.
