Please join me for the debut of my personal journey with PCOS on October 7 @ 9PM on Discovery Health Channel's new program Mystery Diagnosis. My documentary is part of a two part show and should cover about 30 mins of the show. I am so excited this is the debut of the program so, there should be a lot of people watching it.
This is a great opportunity to get together with your friends, family , co-wrkers and cysters to help teach abot how this syndrome truly affects a person's life. I know for myself this has been a long and difficult journey, especially when trying to explain what I go through to others.
I always say you can't understand it unless you live but hopefully this will bring others one step closer!
So, I will see you all on October 7 and hope the segment enlightens and supports the need for more PCOS Awareness.
BTW, keep your eyes peeled for my article in Woman's World Magazine this October. I am not sure what week it runs but, if you see it, pleae give me a shout so I can pick it up!!!!
Thanks everyone!!!!
All the Best,

Thanks for your hard work on getting the word out about PCOS. You are doing worlds of good for many cysters out there, who don't even have a dx yet! Congrats to you!!!

Awesome, congratulations! I may need to subscribe to that channel in order to catch it, but it will be well worth it. I know people like my husband will benefit from the education imparted by seeing another person's experience with the disease. (Since I don't seem to be doing a very good job on my own on the education front...) Wherever our current infertility journey takes us, PCOS apparently will be with us as a couple for much longer; it is critical that those in our lives understand this condition if they are to support us in any meaningful way.
Thanks for all your work on behalf of us cysters!

I really did not go in to soultions. I talked more about the emotional toll and my journey to finding the right diagnosis. Then my mother and my best friend, since 2nd grade talked about how they preceived what was going on. The doctor who diagnosed me was interviewed, a male general practioner right out of med school, if you can believe it!!! and my current doctor . Dr. Sherif who runs the PCOS Center in Philadelphia talks a little bit about my diagnosis and management. I did discuss how I am taking insulin sensitizers and medications to deal with cholesterol. I also doscussed growing up with PCOS and not knwoing what was going on with me. One story I reelayed was being 13 eyrs old and after ddealign with an array of issues including no menstrual cycle being told by my mother's OBGYN some girls have a hard time coming of age and giving me bcps and patting me on the head to send me on my way. Again, this documentary is very real and very emotional. I broke down a ew tiems during filming. There are soem techinical aspects but, the reason I did this was I feltit was importnat to show the human side of the syndrome, the stuff not many people know about or have been exposed to. I still feel very vulnerable having put myself out there like that but, I knew it has to be done, even if it just helps one person realize they have PCOS or helps one family member finally realize the battels many of us have gone through to get a diagnosis and the daily struggles we go through to try to live a normal happy life.
I am sorry I know I am rambling but, I am so passionate about getting the word out and hope this story really makes an impact.
Thanks for all of your support everyone, I really really appreciate it and look forward to feedback on the show!
All the Best and big hugs to you all!
Ashley
