Default PCOS Dr in Alabama

Hi ladies!
I was wondering if anyone knew of a RE that cared about PCOS patients? And took the time to treat them.

Thanks!
Marcie

I think some ladies like the group at Brookwood. I saw a doctor at The Kirklin Clinic, but he is not a hand-holder. I see that you have had some major procedures. Are you currently seeing someone in Alabama, or have you just moved here? I have found that my regular OB gives me the treatment that I need.

Default Hi Jenn

Thanks responding.

No, I have lived in Alabama all of my life. I have been with a re from the kirklin clinic since 8/2000 and he is the one who did all my procedures. I see Dr. Steinkampf. He is not what I need right now. I feel closer to his nurse Karen and I guess she is the main reason that I am still there.

Here it is I am spotting today after IUI#2 and I am so ready to move onto Brookwood. I have heard so many good things about them and I want to give them a try. Back in December I had met my deductable(ins) so Karen gave me a big rx for meds to last me through most of this year. So here I sit with a box of full meds that will hopefully last me until September or October and I want to change RE's. I called Brookwood and left a message with the sche nurse and someone is supposed to call me back. I guess they are closed for the holiday.

So, you are from Birmingham? Looks like your little angel will have a birthday soon! congrats!

Thanks!
Marcie

Yes, I actually live in Alabaster. It is funny, because I saw Steinkampf also. Like I said he is not into hand-holding!! I never dealt with Karen when I was trying to get pregnant. I know her because of the work I used to do before I became a mommy. She was so excited when I took Asher to see her because he has red hair.
I can't believe Asher is almost one....seems like only yesterday!
I know there are two ladies from Alabama that are currently pregnant. You may want to post this question over there. I am not sure who they saw as an RE.
Good Luck to you! I hope you find a doc that you need!

I know this was not my question but thanks for the advice. I am from Birmingham too. Nice to meet you both. I live in Centerpoint.
Funny you should mention the Dr. at Kirklin because he is who I am scheduled to see in May. Babywishing I hope that something happens for you this time.
Currently I am down the hall from Steinkampf with my regular OB/GYN who is doing Ok I guess for the moment. I did have one successful pregnancy but miscarried. I am taking clomid this time. Which group of Drs. are you referring to at Brookwood? Which ladies from AL are currently preganant and who do they see.
I have an appt this morning. It makes me feel good to know some of you are so close to home. And Babywishing if you f ind someone you like let me know. My insurance will only allow me to see an RE at UAB so I am stuck as far as RE's are concerned. Good luck to you both. Babydust.

Default HEY!!!!

I like to meet women who are close who are going through the same thing.

I have been with Dr. S for over two years now. In the beginning I was very positive and excited, but it seems since finally be dx w/ pcos in late Oct he is ready to give up me. I am not ready for that. It took an intern to actually dx me w/ pcos, not him.
I really enjoyed his nurse, Karen. She is a God send. She as been there for me every respect and has helped me in more ways than one. She helps stay sain.

But right now I do not have anything to show for my efforts w/ Dr. S except, bruises, scars and debt.

Right now I have an appointment with the ART program at Brookwood, Drs. Honea, Houserman and Long. I will see dr houserman March 3rd. That way I can take some time off and relax.

I am sorry to hear about your m/c. I also had one back in 98'. I got pg with clomid and I don't know if it was 100mg or 150mg. I was about 4 weeks when I found out and I completly m/c at 8 weeks.

Best of luck to you and if you ever need anything email me at:

I'm seeing Dr. Honea at ART-AL. Everyone has been really nice and I'm comfortable there. I've had a few "problems" though, with miscommunication, probably partly my fault for not asking enough questions! The last "biggie:" they didn't tell me that I wouldn't be able to get hCG in my hometown, which is about an hour away. That made for two trips to B'ham in one day. Irritating. But, overall, I'm happy with them! Waiting until this weekend to do an hpt... Best wishes and God bless!
