Default PCOS - endo - new please help!!!

Hello,

I was diagnosed with PCOS in March 09 but have suspected it for awhile due to my wacky cycles. Got them every 3+ months. Dr. did an u/s showed 'several small follicles' and said i have pcos. I do not have any other symptoms of PCOS and she's treating me by keeping me on my birth control to regulate things.

I've realized after a lot of research that there seems to be a high number of pcos women that have endo. Does anyone know why this is or what percentage of pcos-ers have endo? I ask because I have horrible stomach pains...always in the morning...that get worse around the time I have my period. I've always had a 'nervous stomach' but doctor said it was IBS but now I'm wondering could it be endo? I have no other endo symptoms (short cycle, heavy bleeding) but then again I've been on birth control for around 5 years and since I have pcos I guess I've never had a true 'cycle'. I'm just frustrated not knowing if this is truly IBS or possibly something worse, and how can this even be verified without a lap?! Thanks for your help.

OH dear... I see far too many similarities in your statement. I have both. I've been seeing a ND for both since Feb with remarkable results. But anyways, to answer your first question. Endo and PCOS are generally causes by your horomones being out of balance. Theres no "specific" area to pin point, but women with either, or both, have massive horomonal imbalances. The BCP's force your body to have certain horomones are certain times. For some people, this helps with pain and issues, and, IMO give a false sense of security.

Alot of what I say is my own theories, Im not a DR, nor a ND. Although alot of my thoughts are based on my conversations and research with both. Your liver has alot to do with your body's horomones, as it cleanses out the excess, and regulates as well. Im currently on some naturalties (ok I made up that word) to cleanse and boost my liver function. Before March, I hadn't had a 'real' period for almost a year (not including the BCP mayhem I went through sept-jan). I've now had 2 periods since march, so I think Im on a roll!!

BTW, when I first was on my road to discovering my Endo, they said it was IBS--I'll have you know now, with my treatment, 90% of all those isues went away nearly immediately.

Kind of off topic, but would you mind expanding on what kind of "naturalites" you're taking to boost your liver function? Just wondering.

I have both PCOS and endo and will be going in for a lap in a week, but I really don't want to get back on the pill ever again....which makes me worried that my PCOS symptoms will get worse without some course of action!

Thanks!
