Ugh, I have been dealing with this since 18 (now 20 years!!), when my ob/gyn told me my levels were out of balance, but just threw me on birth control pills and called it a day...I hated them, and somehow just ignored the horrifying side effects of PCOS for the last 20 years, until finally I am sick of it and want resolution! I actually recently had blood word done, with unusual results, but then after follow up blood work, my new GP nurse practitioner called to tell me "you are fine" - and told me to talk to a derm about the excess hair...Nice...ARGH!!!!! From a woman, no less...
So, I am not giving up and am looking for a PCOS friendly ob/gyn, or an endocrinologist in the East Bay area to see...I have checked out some of the linked references to dr. lists and have two saved, but would prefer a recommendation, by far! Oakland, Walnut Creek - wherever (I am in Danville)!
Thanks! So happy to find this resources! My husband thinks I am a hypochondriac!! I am super into diet, fitness, nutrition, etc, and am not overweight, so most people dismiss my concerns about how HARD it is for me to lose weight (I rarely mention the other side effects, obviously!) - I am trying to prepare for a figure competition, and fear never being able to get my body fat to below 10% for the competition - I have to know what I am dealing with here and figure out what is going to counterbalance the insulin issues. I am most frustrated that I just "dealt" with this for the past 20 years without asking any questions!!!!
Any help greatly appreciated!!!!!
