Question PCOS and excessive sweating?!?

Hey!
Does anyone else suffer from excessive sweating? I'm wondering if this is somehow related to the PCOS because I saw a website once that listed it as a symptom and I do suffer from excessive sweat.
Also, if you do suffer from ex. sweat, have you used anything to treat it? A dermatologist suggested I use Drysol...I used it the first time tonight and it BURNED LIKE CRAZY....so much that I couldn't handle it and had to wash it all off. If you have used drysol, does this irritation continue? can I use it again and see if it helps the problem?

thx guys!

Hello

I sweat excessively too, esp when exercising, to the point of embarrassment.... literally drenched with sweat!

Earlier this year, I attempted to walk 100km within 48hrs in a charity-type event called 'Trailwalker'. I was the only girl in our team of 4 and guess what?! Isn't it a known fact that guys are meant to sweat heaps more than us girls? Well, just imagine how bad I felt about sweating more than the 3 guys!!!

Also, fat lot of good all the training did in terms of losing weight... didn't lose that much. Another thing, I recently came back from trekking 2 weeks around Mont Blanc & 1 week in the Pyrenees (average of walking up & down mountainsbetween 5-8 hrs a day) and how much weight did I lose? I stayed about the same whilst everyone else in the group managed to lose quite a few kgs. Even the person who walked 2 days less than me lost 5-6kg. Now, is that fair people?!!

Anywayz, in regards to the sweating, I tell people that I'm in excellent health as my pores are working way too well.

Default at night

After I quit bcp Diane 35, I left my pcos untreated for a couple of months. During that time I used to sweat a lot at night. I noticed it because my nightgear was soaking wet in the morning. When I asked my bf, he said that he had noticed it as well during the nights. This stopped when I took treatment to lower my testosterone levels (the med Proscar in my case).
Hope this helps.

Hugs,

Charlie

Default me too

I noticed it around the same time the excessive hair began to really bug me, I always sweat a lot (much more than men) and even without physical exertion. I have always wondered if this is the same thing as the heat intolerance that accompanies hyperthyroids, and if it isn't more a thyroid thing ,which is sometimes seen in pcos?I have read about drysol, but haven't found it here yet. A deodorant/anti-perspirant with 25% aluminum zirconium has helped me with the underarm area a bit more than the regulars. But how do you control the dribbles on head, back, chest, etc.!

Post Dear Pamlesque,

I sweat a lot at night, but I do not sweat much at all during the day unless I am on the treadmill. I also know someone else who sweats a lot, and she has also been diagnosed with PCOS. I do not notice her sweat, but she says her hands get sweaty all of the time. Go to www.handsdry.com for more information about excessive sweating. Take care, and Happy Holidays!

Jennifer

My hands used to sweat a lot before I moved to AZ. Now with the arid climate, I'm pretty much dry all over.

I've read about the sweating though, and it's linked more to IR than PCOS. Being overweight in itself makes you sweat because lugging around the weight it a workout. Also there's something to do with the IR hormone imbalance that makes us sweat more readily. I'm not quite sure how that works though.

heya gals!!

i only notice my sweat in my underarms....i've used a drysol for a couple of treatments and the first day I didn't sweat at all!!!!!! it was unbelievable! i was bone dry! (but i doubt THAT'S very healthy). I think you may sweat more if you're overweight overall....but since I'm thin I seem to only sweat on my underarms and I don't notice it at all on my hands or anywhere else (other than my feet....but that's only at work whenmy feet have been in shoes for 6 hours which is normal).
I think i'm going to keep on using the drysol, even though it does burn....maybe my skin will get used to it. because the rawness and redness wasn't bad the second evening that I used it. but it SURE DID HURT!!!!!

Unhappy Anything less scary than Drysol?!

Hello!

Found this thread when looking up "sweating" cos I am sure that I am not meant to be this stinky!

I only sweat a lot in my underarms, I think, but I am reluctant to use an antiperspirant, particularly one with aluminium I believe it has been linked to other health problems (Alzheimer's, breast cancer). Because of this, I only use deodorants without an anti-perspirant.

Although I expected to be sweatier, I didn't expect to smell bad! I guess that plain deodorants are just not as effective, although I have to say that even when I did use antiperspirants I would still smell kind of sour. I suppose that I am closer to it than anyone else and am obviously going to be the first to notice it, but it just isn't nice! Has anyone found a good solution to this problem that doesn't involve heavy-duty products?

TIA!
Aggs

I've also seen sweating listed under symptoms of IR. I'm a thin cyster, and have been noticing a burst of symptoms lately, and around the same time seem to be sweating more than normal - I usually never sweat unless I'm out in 90 degree weather or extreme physical exercise - now I'll have to come home and take a shower after sitting in the office all day. So I'm fairly convinced its connected with all the other increasing PCOS stuff

My dd and I have been using drysol for about 3 years now. It is uncomfortable. I would rather deal with the little bit of pain than the embarrassing sweat, wearing tight t-shirts help. I also noticed that if I wait awhile after my shower to apply it so that the pores aren't totally open, its less painful/itchy than when you put it on directly after shower.
Question: Last night I went to bed early and after about 40 minutes I was so hot (I only had sheet and light comforter on the bed) so you know how you put your feet out and keep your body in trying to cool off. After about 2 hours I was totally sweating, but when I took off covers would get cold. Fell asleep and woke up 3 or 4 times during the night and woke up totally soaked=nightgown, hair, sheets. Is this a nightsweat?
