I'm new to the forum, hello all.
I recently saw a gyn who thinks I have PCOS. I didn't like the doctor very much and was wondering if anyone knows of a good doctor in Western MA (Springfield area). Thanks!
I know a great Endocrinologist in Worcester, MA. I know that's not really 'Western MA' but he is well worth the drive. I work in Palmer, MA and it's about an hour drive. Anyway, it's Dr. Joseph Cohen w/ Fallon Clinic. His Nurse Practitioner, Alisa Kosla is also amazing. They are both so incredibly nice and informative.
Thanks for the reply! I actually live in Monson. I'll definitely check this doctor out when I get on my new insurance in Oct. Do you know if he's taking new patients? And approximately how long it takes to get an appointment?

I hate to hijack, but the Western MA thing caught my eye. I actually lived in Palmer for 4 years. Now in Ohio. My DH is from MA. ( I worked in the Dunkin Donuts and actually trained in the Monson store.) I miss MA very much, it is so beautiful, especially in the Fall. I never was able to really find a great Dr though for my Pcos, that was always a hassle. I can say that I did have a regular endocrinologist though that was at Wing, he did find my cancer, but didn't believe I had PCOS, He thought I was just fat. I'm sorry i'm not more help. Have you tried anyone at Baystate?

I go to that dunkin donuts all the time. yum.
I was going to try Baystate next. The GYN I saw was at Valley Women's Health clinic and it just didn't go well. He basically told me I just needed to lose weight and take BCP. He ordered an ultrasound which I had on Friday, and he was supposed to call, but he didn't. He didn't even order blood work.

Yeah, gotta love dunkin donuts. =). Your dr. sounds like the dr. I had at Wing memorial. He did do bloodwork, but flat out told me that I didn't have pcos because I was heavy. He then tried to force me to go on merida, but I had to sign a contract first that I wouldn't try to get pregnant while on the meds. I thought that was ridiculious so I went on Weight watchers instead. It is so hard to find a good doctor. I wish you luck though, I know I had such a hard time in MA because of the weight thing with dr's. Maybe I just couldn't pick em. Maybe try the baystate website, I know they have physician listings and if you search under endocrinologists, they give you a list, I know there are a couple that are just reproductive endo's though. Good luck!

I just moved from Monson He is definitely taking new patients and it shouldn't take you long at all to get an appointment. I would guess no longer than two weeks max. He just really knows what he is talking about and he's compassionate. Not a prick at all...and Alisa is so sweet. I'm so glad I found them.
thank goodness someone kenw about a doctor in worcester area, i just moved from maine to the worcester area and was hopeing to find someone who was in my area who would know about a good doctor, finding a good doctor who isnt a prick is such a hard thing to do.
