Default PCOS friendly RE in Fort Worth TX

Hi,

I live about 45 minutes SW of Fort Worth and was wondering if anyone knew of a PCOS friendly RE in the FortWorth area. I have seen several posts about docs in Dallas and will drive there if I have to but would like to find someone a little closer. Any suggestions would be a appreciated. My insurance only shows one guy out of fortworth and his name is DeLeon, Frank D., MD has anyone seen him? Or can give me more information on him?

Thanks,

Lipan? Is that close to Granbury? I will ask a few of my friends in Fort Worth if they have heard of him.

Default Dr. Kenneth Mair

I see Dr. Kenneth Mair at Harris Downtown. He is affiliated with a great group of endo's. I think a lot of him. He was the 2nd endo that I saw and was willing to let me increase my dose to the amount that I thought my body needed. I have been seeing him about 3 years now. Their number is 817-820-2890.

Blessings!

Default Sorry Andra

Dr. Mair isn't an RE he is a regular endo. The Doody's treated me (Kathleen) in Euless. There are no other RE's in Ft. Worth that I know of. Dr. Johns in Euless (infertility specialist) is supposed to be good.

Nisee and Candace

Can you tell me any more about Anna Nackley? Have you seen her? When I called the office they said that she is the one that deals with the PCOS patients. I was just wondering if she knew her stuff.

Thanks,

Default They have added her

Since I conceived 9 years ago Dr. Nackley has been added to the Doody's roster I suppose. It is a good thing because noone ever mentioned PCOS (Luteal Phase problem or anything) when I saw the Doody's for infertility. The only problem I had with the Doody's is that the nurse's were the ones doing all the work. I can honestly say I saw the doctor maybe twice over the year I was on that journey. I would say it might be worth a try if she deals strickly with PCOS patients. I might also call and ask for her nurse and see if she prescribes Glucopage to help in acheiving pregnancy. Any questions you can ask before hand in seeing them would help. Good Luck!

Hi, is Bedford far for you? There's a Dr named Dr Farmer, and he's great. He's not an RE, but he can do all the stuff they do, and he's better than the RE I went to (he's an ob/gyn). He's really up on the latest PCOS stuff. There's a thread about him under this same topic "Find a Doctor."

I highly, highly recommend him.

Hi Ladies,

Just want you all to know my experience with Dr. Anna Nackley. So beware if you are overweight. Read below:

Okay so I FINALLY talk to the doc today and she said we can continue with a monitored cycle and IUI if I want to. I told her that she had not mentioned anything about my weight and she said it IS a recommendation because of not being able to see my ovaries and that SHE cannot be there everytime I have a scan to find my ovaries. I said that the nurse was very rude and I did not like her implicating that my weight was the cause for my miscarriage and she said it was probably due to my glucose intolerance. What? I have never heard this before and SHE cannot prove that that is the cause. I cannot beleive she said that. She said the the IR is because of the weight and I said now wait a minute. Is the IR not associated with the PCOS and therefore Causing the weight. She said that it is not proven what comes first and that I have the PCOS probably due to the weight and the IR. I said, I don't beleive that is right. I was down to 175lbs and still had the symptoms and have had symptoms since puberty. Give me a break. So in other words it is MY fault I lost my babies( in her opinion)because I am fat and haven't lost the weight. Like I do not feel guilt enough for my losses. As far as the not treating if heavy she said their cutoff is a BMI of 47 and I am a 47.8 so that they would do the IUI and monitoring but no injectibles or clomid. Give me a break. So I checked my BMI after I got off the phone and I have only a BMI of 46. I am so furious the more I think about the nerve of these people being so damn insensitive. I would like to do the IUI but am seriously considering not going for my scan and finding another doc. She has been so nice up until now. I think I made her mad because she did not call on Thursday like she had said and I kept calling until she talked to me. Oh well, I am paying her and if she cannot do the job I need her to do then I will find someone who will. I really would love to have another baby but I do not need this abuse. Can anyone recommend a fat friendly RE in DFW area? I mean I am aware that my weight is a concern but I am so tired of these fat phobic doctors who blame everything on my weight.

Thanks for listening,

He is not hard to get into but he does tell me I need to lose weight, which I don't think that is my problem. I weigh in the 160's and couldn't get pregnant when I was smaller. But he is a nice man and I like his nurse Kathy and she is who I deal with the most.

Donna,

How is it going with Dr. DeLeon? I have been seeing Dr. Farmer and he is wonderful but we need to have a SA done and he does not have a lab in his office? The RE that he sends patients to for SA is not on my insurance and I would like to avoid paying for one if I have to. I wonder if Dr. DeLeon would do a SA for me without seeing me as a patient? I hesitated to go to him because of my weight and my prior experiences and if he tells you to lose weight at 160 he definately is going to say something to me at 275. I guess I am just phobic now lol. I hope you are pg by now. Please let me know.

Also has anyone heard of Dr. Lisa King out of Dallas and also has an office in Arlington?

If anyone else has any suggestions on RE's in the Fort Worth area I would appreciate it. I live about 45minutes SW of FW so the closer the better.

Thanks.

Andra,

I don't know about any of the other doctors you asked about, but just wanted to make a quick comment. A urologist should be able to do an SA for your husband, and they are usually MUCH quicker to get into than an RE. My dh actually had an SA set up with a urologist when we saw our first RE, but the RE's labs had an appointment available sooner. Usually, there isn't a lab right in the doctors' offices, it is located at the hospital they are affliated with. Dr. Farmer is affliated with BAYLOR MEDICAL CTR-GRAPEVINE, GRAPEVINE, TX and HARRIS METHODIST/H E B NORTH, BEDFORD, TX, so you might even want to call these hospitals' SA labs and see if Dr. Farmer can order an SA since he is affliated with them.
