  1. Question Liver ultrasound

So I went to the endo ealier today and I thought they were calling me back to discuss the results of my thyroid labwork (which goes from abnormal to normal and back and forth) but instead my endo went ahead and scheduled a liver ultrasound for me. My liver enzymes are elevated and now I have to get an ultrasound. Has anyone had to get a liver ultrasound before? It's probably due to NASH, not that...

  2. Exclamation Fat And Depressed.

Okay, i just need to vent. So if you want to listen, please feel free. I am always saying how tired i am of being fat, and i will say it again. I am tired of being fat. I say this, but don;t do anything about it. So, in a way i can't complain, because i dont do much to help myself. I guess i don;t help myself because i feel like it will be useless. I know exercise and eating proper foods is good...

  3. First AF after Met but no cramps

Been on met since 12-14-09 and have been taking 1500 mg for at little over a month now and AF made a slight appearance on superbowl Sunday. Growing up before taking BC I had really heavy AF's that lasted 6-7 days and on BC I had regular periods that lasted 5 days typically. Not on BC now just on met 1500 mg. The first day wasn't too heavy like a normal first day and the 2nd, 3rd, and today seem...

  6. 'Mild' PCOS - new and looking for advice

I've just been diagnosed with PCOS based on ultrasound showing my ovaries were enlarged and misshapen (but no cysts), and blood work showing that my hormones were double the amount of what they're supposed to be, with estrogen dominance. Firstly, I'm quite confused as I thought PCOS = testosterone dominance? I'm also confused as I've had hormonal blood work done before to test for PCOS but it...

  7. Red face Spironolactone and Potassium Issue

Hi everyone-- the only drug that seemed to help with all of my cosmetic symptoms from androgen sensitive skin was Spironolactone, but at only 50 mg (+ the qty in Ocella, whatever that is) My potassium was 5.4 so they had to lower me back down to only 25mg. I have been in consult with docs about a substitute for this drug and they all come back with nothing. So, my next step was to see if any of...

  9. MonoNessa (Ortho-cyclene) question...

Hi Ladies - since Metformin did not regulate me at all, my Dr wants me to go back on the BCP until my husband is back from deployment and we decide to start TTC again. She gave me MonoNessa...so I wanted to see if anyone else was on this pill, or any ortho-cyclene pill. I am a "thin-cyster" and have been working really hard lately to lose a few lbs which I recently gained and get in shape for...

  13. Help!!!

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I'm just discovering this amazing website. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year, and since my senior year of high school (I'm a junior in college now) I've noticed significant weight gain, but I haven't exhibited any of the other PCOS symptoms, such as hair growth. My main issue and goal is just to lose this weight! I've recently started a low carb diet, and...

  15. Question Reason for not being put on met?

I was dx in Dec with PCOS from the RE. The more I read, it seems tons of women were put on Met even if not IR. Why wouldn't the RE put me on it? His plan is clomid.

  16. Progesterone Cream Confusion??

Here is my problem, I am 22 years old, healthy but overweight. I haven't had a period in almost a year. I had a miscarriage in 2006, but my periods were normal afterwards, and around February of 2009, periods were pretty much non existent. I am not currently pregnant. I've taken plenty of tests and they were all negative, no sickness, no appetite changes, nothing at all.. just no periods. After I...

  17. Question Root of the problem: IR or hormone imbalance?

I am torn on my PCOS treatment options and would love to have some opinions. I hate the idea of being on prescription medications, especially if I think they are only treating a symptom and not the root of the problem(s). At the moment, my doctor is suggesting either metformin or birth control pills/hormone replacement as PCOS treatment options. I feel certain that I have some degree of...

  19. Question PCOS and Chronic Fatigue

Hi! I was wondering if anyone is dealing with Chronic Fatigue as a possible result of PCOS. Chronic Fatigue also has symptoms of Chronic allergies/ sinus infections. I suffer from both. I was wondering if anyone else finds these to be issues. If so, what is your treatment process? Thank you!

  20. Unhappy HELP! Mood, Metformin and Hysterectomy

This is my first post on this board but I've been reading it for a while trying to gather as much info as I can about PCOS. About two months ago my doctor put me on 1000mg (500mg twice daily) of Metformin. I noticed that for the first month I felt a lot calmer, no mood swings and less anger. I did have some gastric distress but it was manageable. Now, I no longer have the gastric discomfort...
