I'm pretty sure I have pcos. I have all of the symptoms plus a few others. I'm not looking foward to going to the doctor. Last time I went they just put me on bcp. They made my mood swings unbearable! I felt like I was going crazy! I'm afraid that's what they'll do again. I know it's not normal but not having a period is what I've gotten used to and don't really look foward to having one each month. I'm just afraid of the unknown.
I have not been diagnosed with PCOS, but I definitely have the symptoms! I would like to know what are some of the other symptoms that anybody else has experienced?
Hi My name is Melissa and I have been on the pill for 10 years since I was 18. Because of this my Dr has only tested for certain things. My androgen levels were at 2.7 (over 3 is POCS) and I had high cholesterol. I was referred for more tests after being told to loose weight and now my cholesterol is normal (I only lost 5kgs) and androgen levels are lower. I have had hair loss for 3 years and its just awful. I dont know about hair I have a few hairs on my chin and around my nipples but I dont know whats normal and whats not.
Anyway, I have three more blood tests to do and an ultrasound. If I dont get a diagnosis I think I might go off the pill and see what happens with my periods.
HAs anyone else had similar test results or been on the pill and can shed some advice?
I'm a little disappointed so far with my journey. I've been having blood work for the past month and not yet been in to see my doctor. My androgen and testosterone levels are high, my insulin is normal; I have the classic weight in the belly region and unsightly hair on my face. My doctor – again over the phone has put me on YAZ but has not said you have PCOS, it’s kinda annoying. At least tell me, “listen it’s still to early to tell yet, or it looks like you have PCOS” I just want something!
Hey all.. Im new to the site.. Just wanted to say that I ttc for 1 yr by myself.. but went to the OB everyother month because I had no periods.. i had to take meds to bring it on. I tried temping,, that never worked.. i tried ovulation kits.. those didnt work. When I started going to the fertility clinic.. after 1 appointment I had so many answers it was rediculous! FINALLY SOMEONE DID THERE JOB.. I was diag. with PCOS.. started Metformin.. but still another year later.. I still dont get periods by myself.. Im not overweight... I have no facial hair.. but I did have weird acme on the sides of my face that would flare up occasionally.. thought it was stress related. IDk, I hate that your Drs. sound like they are so insenative! I think I would have been super upset as well if someone talked to me like that! Im sorry!
I hate having PCOS.. very frustrating since in my case there really isnt much I can do .. lots of PCOS can take the meds and just adjust there diet and they start having periods.. I have a crazy horrible case.
I CANT believe how many women have it though! I wonder why this is!!!
Hi, I just joined this forum after browsing through some websites to find more useful information on PCOS. My doctor last semester told me after a lot of blood tests and ultrasounds that I have PCOS, he put me on MET 150mg i think i cant remember right for about 3 months however it didnt help. For the past 4 years I have been gaining weight i loose a little well it seems as if I do and then gain it back all over again in a matter of a week. It is impossible for me to loose weight. I am a university student and every day monday-thursday I am up and walking from one class to another which is practically almost 4 miles a day, however my friends lost sooo much weight and they eat junk food on top of that. I am soo cautious about what I eat. I do not have a eating disorder or anything my friends and family actually have to yell at me to eat 3 times a day bc I am the, one meal a day kinda person. But still why am I gainign so much weight? On top of that I have acne. for the past 4 yrs I have taken acutane, soo many creams and pills, the doctor also changed atleast 3 different kinds of BCP's over the years but nothing seems to work! It gets worse month by month...now I am getting bald you can see my scalp under the only hair that i have. My pony tail is sooo small I am only 20 and I feel soo old..the embarassing part is that my mom and my mother in law are younger n thinner looking then me. I get comments from friends and guys i know that I have a good body bc I am 5'7 and it doesnt seem as if i am FAT just THICK. But I weight 200 pounds and it is soo hard for people to believe that. Any how i dunno what to do..the specialist that i am going to see is on jan. 16th. I have been waiting since sept to see her but she is soo buzzy. I am a little worried about why i am having my menstural cycle twice a month now. I cant wait till then to get advice. I NEED help! please someone respond back to my post! I have also read the IR diet but I do not know how to keep up with that. I do not eat out a lot maybe once every 3 weeks or twice but its nothing like burgers and stuff. I am living away from home my parents live in the US and i am in canada going to university. So it is way harder for me to keep up with my diet. I need some advice on how to lose the weight quick and a easy way. Plus my acne and hair problem. One more thing, I also see that my facial hair is growing faster and the hair on my head is falling is that normal? to have facial hair grow and the hair on ur head fall out? Thanks I hope i get some feedback soon. THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
if this post is hard to understand I am sorry. I am at the library using the internet and am kind of in a rush.
Hey, you mentioned you're a "one meal a day kinda gal", this could be part of your problem. If you don't eat regular meals you slow down your metabolism, you're body also goes into starvation mode and stores the small amount of food it gets as fat. Having PCOS makes it hard enough to lose weight, without eating an irregular diet. Also what kind of food do you eat. The best thing to do is eat small amounts often, try and stick to a Low GI diet, this affects the way insulin is released etc. and is strongly recommended for anyone with PCOS. I'm no expert or anything i'm struggling with my weight myself, just thought i'd share with you the little bit I know xx hope it helps
