Default PCOS has stolen my sunshine!

Hello there!

I am a new kid on the block. Just diagnosed a week ago. Waititng on the blood test results to come back. Assuming that the doc's diasosis remains true then I hope the doc will put me on Metamorfin....that combines with a low carb life style and hopefully I will feel better.

I am 29. I went to the Gyno last week and told him that I had been off b/c for about 3 months...just to see if I would get my period. I didn't get it and I put on about 18 pounds to boot. Nice. The doc said I have a pretty classic case of PCOS.

This is the first time in my life that I have ZERO energy. I am a pretty lively person and all of a sudden I have no spring in my step. I mean, I actaully have a hard time getting up in the morning. I am like a log. I could sleep forever. This is a very new thing for me.

I haven't ever tried to get pregnant so I may have caught this early enough to get a head start on things in case one day I ever do get married and decide to have kiddos. But for now, I am just trying to get the weight off (I guess it's about 45-50 pounds to loose now) and avoid diabetes. Ugh. I feel so fat and I swear I am getting fatter by the second! So depressing. I am back to the low carb thing (used to do Atkins) but can't seem to find the energy in the mornings to cook anything. So then I get to work and eat a bagel-we have a stocked kitchen here at my office. And I mean stocked. Everything under the sun that you can imagine-except that it is all high carbs! Grrrr. Frosted Poptart anyone? The eatting here is constant.

I hope to get some insight early next week when the blood results come back. Then I hope the doc will be open to Metaformin. (He said he might be hesitant to do that with me but I am not sure why he said that...) I am eager to get this thing under control and get back to exercising and eatting the right way for my body. I just feel like absolute crap right now. Zero energy. I could sleep at my desk. It is quite scary because I have never felt this way before.

Onward! I am sure that I will make heads of this thing and beat it. But man do I feel like a slug right now!

Molly
Age 29
Dianosed last week...I think...blood results pending.

Hi Molly,

Welcome to SoulCysters! I can understand about being tired all the time. I used to be very athletic, not anymore And I've had to really watch myself a couple of times, almost fell asleep at my desk! I can also relate to the office and constantly eating! I work with only men, they eat breakfast and lunch here and would probably eat dinner, but their wives make them come home! We are constantly getting doughnuts, have candy, cookies and chips in every office and the kitchen. I finally had to just start going home for lunch and stop eating breakfast at work. Somedays its hard and occasionally I will walk by one of the candy bowls and pick up a piece and pop it in my mouth before I even realize what I have done! But it gets easier all the time. I do the IR diet and walk 1 mile and do weight training everyday and it has helped me alot!
Hope to see you around the boards

Wink Keep your head up girl!

I know exactly how you feel about the weight just creeping up on you all of a sudden. I too am battling the loss of 40 pounds and am constantly tired. I am about half way through this book called: The PCOS Diet by Colette Harris that has been most helpful to me lately. I have lost 5 pounds in two weeks by just lowering my carb intake. It has even given me less cravings for carbs. This book has helped me recognize when I'm getting a craving and learning how to deal with it instead of just binging cookies and cakes! I also have started to take a multi-vitimin daily to help with the energy loss. I hope this helps you a bit in your battle with PCOS.
